ViewSonic launches new low power, ultra portable LED Projector at Tech Expo Ascot 21st Sept 2011

viewsonic

ViewSonic is launching a new projector aimed at users who need a smart, highly mobile projector that delivers superb image quality.

Delivering a high contrast, high quality 500 lumens display in full WXGA (1200×800) resolution, the PLED-W500 is perfect for meetings, training sessions or the travelling executive.

LED illumination technology from ViewSonic offers a 50% power consumption advantage over traditional projector technology, but has the added benefit of increased lamp life, 500% more than traditional lamps.   LED illumination technology means longer product life, less heat, no cool down procedures and a greater resilience to everyday use.

With a host of connectivity options you would come to expect from a ViewSonic projector the PLED-W500 offers a lot of choice.  As well as the traditional analogue connections and latest digital HDMI port, the PLED-W500 also incorporates the innovative USB Display function, where the unit can display video via the USB port from any compatible source.

The PLED-W500 even includes an integrated media player and Microsoft Office document viewer, which when used with the built in memory card reader or USB port means you don’t even need to take a laptop to make a presentation. This reduction in cables, devices, power consumption, weight and ambient noise makes the PLED500 the perfect travelling companion.

“The PLED-W500 has a greater contrast ratio which enhances the 500 lumens putting it on par with higher lumen traditional lamp technology. We have taken our time to develop LED illumination technology so that it meets the standards our customers expect of a ViewSonic projector” says Trevor Holt, European Product Manager for Projectors.

The PLED-W500 comes as standard with a comprehensive 3 years European warranty, as do all the ViewSonic projector range.

Two Gits about to hit

Git-Surge-ProWhat is a Git? Well, at first you might think it is a defamatory remark about someone. However, There are some who might also think about Git Media, who have announced their two new Android Honeycomb tablets. Git Media will be selling two tablets that are identical except that they each utilise a different processor. One uses the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core chip, and the other uses the Samsung Exynos dual-core chip. Other than that they are specced as such:

  • 10.1-inch displays
  • Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 250GB internal storage
  • 5-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • USB and Mini USB ports, Micro SD
  • Wi-FI, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G (optional)

Right off the bat, you may notice that both devices come with a whopping 250GB Hard Drive, instead of the paltry 16GB and 32GB variety in most current Android tablets. Of course, it’s important to note that this HD is probably not an SSD like the current crop, which could add to the weight and size of the tablet itself. Still, for those users that are data hoarders, this could be the tablet of choice.
The second thing that Git Media is doing to have a competitive edge in the crowded tablet market, is an aggressive pricing strategy, and a limited time pre-order special sale. Both the The Git Surge and Git Pro will sell for only $479.99 each. There is no word on UK pricing so we will have to guess, probably about two aardvarks. Also, Git Media will soon begin pre-selling these tablets on their website. Furthermore, if you pre-order online, you will get a complementary gift of your choice which is either a leather case and wireless Bluetooth keyboard, or a 3-year extended warranty. Both of these complimentary add-ons are valued at $100.

Orange Monte Carlo Review

Orange-Monte-Carlo-420x315 Last year orange in conjunction with ZTE released what in the end became a huge success, the San Francisco. Now judging by the success of that device it is no surprise that this year the companies have brought out another Orange branded device, which is called the Monte Carlo a massive beast of a phone with a 4.3 inch display.

So the obvious question really is can the Monte Carlo build on the huge success of the San Francisco and make a name for itself?
