In the battle for thin, Samsung may well be the sinner with their Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. This 10.5″ tablet boasts a gorgeous hi-res Super AMOLED display and 8 cpu cores but packs it all in to a form just 6.6mm thick.

2k Display for new Galaxy Tab S line

According to some new intel which popped up this morning, Samsung is gearing up to launch a new line of Galaxy Tab S tablets later this year. These new Android tablets will supposedly feature higher end specs than current models, including features like:

Of course, as we have seen in the past, a high-end tablet doesn’t necessarily translate into sales or success for Android. For the most part, it’s the cheaper alternatives which have flourished in Android tablet-land. Everything depends on how aggressively Samsung prices these gadgets.

First we had the Nokia 808 Pureview Symbian smartphone with a beastly 41 megapixel camera, then Nokia came out, all guns blazing, with the Nokia Lumia 1020. This time toting Windows Phone 8 which you either love or hate…and Samsung clearly saw the relative success of the 1020 in particular and thought ‘ooh let’s have a go ourselves’ and you know what…they did have a go with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and its 16 megapixel 10X optical zoom camera slapped on the back.

So, you may be wondering, why? And do we really need such a device, or better yet why would anyone want a device such as the S4 Zoom?

Will we see the Samsung Galaxy Note 13.3?

No, this isn’t a duplicate post, Samsung is working on a 12.2-Inch Galaxy Note tablet. However, that is not the only giant Android tablet they are working on. Supposedly, Samsung is also developing a 13.3-inch Android tablet to launch later next year.

It looks like Samsung believes 2014 will be the year of the tablets. Not only are they throwing out a ton of new tablet devices, they have upped their estimated tablet sales projections to a whopping 42 million. Of course, this will be for all of their tablets which will range in size a great deal. If this newest rumour is true we will have a wide range if new Samsung tablets: 7-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch and 13-inch. We will know something more concrete in January at CES.

Rumours are surfacing on the net that Samsung is currently working on a Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2″ tablet which will launch in early 2014. The source of these rumours are that the device has already passed through the FCC. Here’s what we know about the specs…

Samsung Galaxy Express 2 coming to the UK

Samsung today announced that the updated LTE version of the popular Samsung Galaxy Express will be available here in the UK

The Samsung Galaxy Express 2 will be a Vodafone exclusive from the 23rd October but other UK retailers will stock the phone from a yet undisclosed date.

Looks like the Galaxy Express 2 will be popular, it has a powerful quad-core 1.7GHz CPU and a large, 4.5 inch display. No word in the cost as yet but if Vodafone can get the price point right I’d expect them to sell plenty of these.

HTC One Max vs Galaxy Note 3: Benchmark

HTC announced the HTC One Max earlier this week and folowing some unboxing and demo videos that we posted, we’ve had a lot of questions and feedback about the new device.

One of the recurring requests has been to compare the new HTC One Max to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Both the One Max and Note 3 are of a similar size and spec and occupy the same place in the market.

One of the things that we thought we could do to compare the two devices is to have them both run a benchmark test and see which one comes out on top.

Obviously we’re expecting the Note 3 to come out on top in this test, it has a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU vs 1.7GHz on the One Max but just how big is the difference? Check out the video below to see the numbers!

Samsung have today announced the UK release date of their latest device in the Galaxy range, the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3.

Samsung high end update roadmap

In a Samsung high end update roadmap, Android 4.3 should soon be coming to the Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 according to French carrier SFR who released a roadmap table with information about their devices’ upcoming OTA updates. According to SFR, the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 should be getting Android 4.3 Jelly Bean sometime in November or December, while the Galaxy S4 is set to receive it in October.

We would like to think other carriers would be looking at updates in and around the same time scale.
