For the first time ever Apple have sold more iPhones in Q3 than RIM has sold BlackBerry smartphones, according to Strategy Analytics. In fact 20% more which is quite a jump.
Nokia are clearly still number one worldwide but could Apple make the gap even smaller? With rumors rife that Verizon Wireless will release a CDMA iPhone sometime soon Apples sales will only grow and grow.
Come on RIM. We need something special from you and I’m not talking about a tablet with a funny name. We need a super BlackBerry, please.

As if to wipe the smug grin off of all those Android owners with their free copies of the world’s premier avian demolition game, Rovio have released Angry Birds Halloween. It’s still only 59p and even better, the HD version is only £1.19 for us fans of giant iPods (you know, iPads). The plot remains the same – pigs inexplicably steal eggs, eggs parents become feathered suicidal sling ammo – but the graphics and sounds have all been given a Halloween makeover, including the requisite pumpkins, werewolf howling and green pigs in ghostly sheets. Even the jolly Angry Birds polka ditty has been giving a spooky makeover, rounding off a very good addition to an already excellent game. Sling yourselves over here to take a look.

Nokia recently announced a new wave of handsets and among those announced was the Nokia N8. We’ve finally managed to get our hands on a new N8 to review and I’m starting here, as we always do, with the unboxing video.
The Nokia N8 is the first Symbian3 handset that we’ve looked at so I am looking forward to trying it out, comparing it to earlier versions of Symbian (I’m still using my C6) and also to other handsets that we have in reviewing at the moment. I think this must also be the first Nokia handset to have a built-in, non-user replacable battery. I guess it works for the iPhone but I wonder if this will be a point of contention for Nokia.
The N8 has a fab 12-megapixel camera with a proper xenon flash which is a real boon. Couple that with the capacitive AMOLED touchscreen this could be a winner.
Full review coming up over the next week or two but for now here’s the unbox and a brief demo.
The Garmin name is synonymous with GPS and satellite navigation and this new nuvifone M10 couples Asus’s phone expertise with Garmin’s proven GPS navigation technology. It should make for a formidable integrated navigation device.
Asus have crammed in a 3.5″ WVGA touchscreen which is ideal for displaying the detailed 3D maps, all of which comes pre-installed as part of the package. There’s 4GB of internal memory as well as a MicroSDHC memory card slot. The nuvifone M10 is also the first fully converged Location Based Services (LBS) smartphone with integrated GPS.
You get everything you need to use this device in-car too, a cradle and windscreen mount and car charger.
It seems a little odd to have another Windows Mobile 6.5.3 handset on the market though, especially with WP7 hitting the market this week. So to find out whether or not that all matters you’ll have to wait a week or two for the full review. For now you can check out the unboxing video below.
Now we know the latest version of Android is almost here, and how do I know. Well a giant gingerbread man has just arrived at Google’s headquarters is how. Google still hasn’t said a word about the new version of Android, codenamed Gingerbread, but the rumours floating around the internet are saying that Gingerbread will have better media support, speed improvements and a nicer UI. And I presume the arrival of the gingerbread man suggests that we will probably see an announcement of Android 3.0 within the next couple of weeks.
The giant gingerbread model is taking it’s place alongside the éclair, the cupcake, and cone of frozen yogurt. Check the video of the Gingerbread arriving below.

I am sure you saw our HTC 7 Mozart unboxing video earlier this week. In the video you would of heard me say that I was going to record a further demo video once I had become a little more familiar with the device and customized it a wee bit.
Well, I have done that now and the video is below. I am still no expert with Windows Phone 7 so please don’t call me a silly sausage but I hope this gives you a slightly better insight into the operating system.
See the video after the break:
