Well it has been a busy weekend, yesterday I was discussing Windows Mobile on the msmobiles podcast and today I had a great time chatting with Michael Manna of the T4 Show about the iPhone 3G buying process in the UK and US along with first impressions of the App Store and Apps available at launch. You can download the podcast directly here or subscribe in iTunes here.

Was lucky enough to join the team at msmobiles again this Saturday and talk Windows Mobile with Edward form msmobiles and Alli from MyTreo.net. Not a great deal of Windows Mobile news this week because of the iPhone 3G launch but a few interesting topics to discuss. You can get the podcast from msmobiles or download it directly here. Show notes after the break.
Tracy and Matt take a look at the Redfly. I’ve been interested in this since the Palm Foleo was unfortunately dumped. If you think an Eee PC is too much and you feel little limited when working from you Windows Smartphone then this might just be the gap in the market you are looking for.
Since the disappointment of the Dension Gateway 100 not charging the iPhone 3G I have been seeking answers as to what the problem is and it appears that Apple have removed the ability to charge the iPhone 3G via Firewire. The iPods and original iPhone connector has two sets of power connectors – one for USB and one for Firewire but the new iPhone 3G only has USB charging pins.
Vivendi Game Mobile has released their popular racing game based on the Crash Bandicoot character. This game uses the accelerometer on the iPhone and iPod Touch to great effect. Michael Manna at the T4 Show has put together a great video showing the game in action, check it out after the break.
Ok if your not a fan of iPhone 3G and are sick to death of hearing about it (Edward msmobiles) then this video is for you. The guys at Will it blend have just posted a video of… yes you guessed it an iPhone 3G in a blender, check it out after the break and laugh or cry it is your call.
We did a review of the Dension Gateway 100 using it with the original iPhone and it all worked perfectly. Now that I have the iPhone 3G I have been testing it out this morning and it is not good news. First off the Brodit holder that I have installed is a little tight but it should be fine as it is lined with a felt so it will not scratch the iPhone 3G. The worst part is when you plug the cable into the iPhone 3G and you are met with a warning message.
I have now had the iPhone 3G for 24 hours and thought it would be a good idea to post some impressions so far. The buying experience is now over and hopefully will not be repeated but since then its all been pretty good. Unlike in the US we did not have to activate the iPhone 3G instore, all that was needed was a signature on a new or upgrade contract and a credit check. The credit check took the longest as O2’s credit check service failed before 9am but luckily as I got mine from the The Carphone Warehouse they had a back up plan so all was good. After the break more first thoughts.
Looks like we will soon see a new version of the Pwnage tool to work with the latest iPhone 2.0 software. The guys at the iphone dev team have posted a video showing it in action and claim it will work with the latest 2.0 software. Don’t expect it this weekend but they say it will be available very soon. Video after the break.
Michael Manna of the T4Show has done a great review of the new iTunes Remote for iPhone. Michael in this video shows us how he uses his new iPhone 3G to control his AppleTV and also perform a software update over the air on the Apple TV. Check out the video after the break.
