If you were really looking forward to tomorrows promised release of Opera Mobile 9.5 beta then prepare to be disappointed. Just spotted this great story over at Mobility Today, PC World’s Senior Editor Tim Moynihan applied a serious beating to the Apple iPhone 3G using keys, breakfast cereal, water, dish soap, and city sidewalks. Check out the video after the break, I dropped my original iPhone and put a large dent in the top so this was painful viewing for me.
Apple today announced it had sold its one millionth iPhone 3G on Sunday, just three days after its launch on Friday, July 11th. “iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world.”

Here is a video from Phone Arena showing a couple of problems with 2.0 on the iPhone. Doesn’t seem to say whether is it is the official 2.0 firmware however. I guess as you pack more and more things into a device the likelihood of error increases, ala Windows Mobile.
Have look at this fairly hefty evaluation of the Treo 800w. They have many good things to say about it and point out a few obvious flaws along with a complaint about the battery. Sounds like another safe yet robust offering from Palm. Glad to see it.

Whilst some will now be going ape with Super Monkey Ball or smash happy with Crash Bandicoot Windows Mobile users can get down with SNES classics. Palmsolo takes a look at the features of Palm’s newest offering. I’m actually pretty excited about it as it is a strong sign that Palm is stepping up to the plate to capture some of the market with a higher spec than the Centro.
Mobility Today have the scoop on the latest Palm Windows Mobile device the Treo 800W. Not a great deal for us on this side of the pond as it is a CDMA device but it should give us some pointers as to what to expect with the Treo 850V when it hits in the coming months in Europe. Check out the video after the break.
It seems like forever since the iPhone 3G hit and it’s about time something else came through the settling dust to try to save our brains. Boy Genius has posted a short update on an impending Google phone. Despite being 50% ugly and 50% screen it seems to be just around a corner, maybe not the next one but possibly the one after that.
Crackberry.com have managed to get the first live images of the BlackBerry Thunder and its touchscreen keyboard. The images also provide further confirmation that the Thunder’s operating system will still rely heavily on the BlackBerry menu button for key functions and advanced options vs putting all options on the main screen as the iPhone does. Read on for the pictures and a bit more info on this interesting new Blackberry.
