A Silverlight based Portal for Windows Mobile applications has just been launched. The initial focus of this site is on business applications for Windows Mobile according to Jason Langridge. You can check out the site here but you will need to have Silverlight installed first.
For many people the battery life of the iPhone 3G is causing great concern when used with 3G, locate me services, wifi and bluetooth all switched on, sure we can manage the power manually by switching them off when we don’t need them but that can be a pain. I have just been given some information on a company working on a back up battery for the iPhone 3G that some might find interesting. It is touted for availability at the start of August and I am hoping to get one of these in for a detailed review. Full details after the break.
The iPhone Dev Team has just posted a video of what it claims is “the world’s first jailbroken iPhone 3G running our own software.” While true that there have already been jailbreaks for the iPhone 2.0 firmware, this latest “pwnage” represents a big step forward toward a complete solution for users wanting to use the latest iPhone without being required to join with a particular carrier, and run non-Apple-sanctioned applications on the device. Video after the break.
Tracy and Matt have just published a great review of the Samsung F480 Tocco. We have seen a lot of this Samsung phone recently on billboards and TV but it is nice to finally see a detailed review of the device. It runs on its own proprietary OS, no Windows Mobile or Symbian here and has a great touch screen interface and a 5 Mpx camera. Full specs after the break.
According to GSM Arena the Samsung Omnia will be launched in Italy on the 22nd July and will be available in all major European countries and other GSM markets before the end of August. This looks like a great phone to us and we will be getting one in to review as soon as possible so watch this space. More details after the break.

The Boy Genius Report have their hands on the latest Blackberry Bold and have just posted up their review, apparently they have had the phone in hand for over a month but decided not to spill the beans. This is the device every single BlackBerry user has been waiting for. Finally a BlackBerry that “has it all.” 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, QWERTY keyboard, camera, great screen, clean styling, and more.
Just watched a video over at the T4 Show of the iPhone application Shazam and I have been playing around with it myself and have to say it is quite amazing. When you hear a song wherever you are and want to know what and who it is, simply load up Shazam, select tag it and let your iPhone listen to the song for about 15 seconds and it will tell you what your listening too. T4 Show video after the break.
If you are a new user to smart phones with push email and HSDPA connectivity and have just got your hands on the new iPhone 3G then battery life may be a bit of a shock for you. PC World have done some pretty extensive test of the iPhone 3G battery and find it to out perform many of it’s similarly specced rivals.
Who would have thought, the Treo 800w is super fast. Palm maybe be releasing nothing new on the hardware front but they have spent a lot of time making this phone react like you’d want it to. Push a button and things happen. Take a look at the video after the break. Thanks to Pocketnow.
