Nokia X3 unboxing video

x3 The Nokia X3 has been around for a while now but we constantly get asked about it, possibly because it’s just got the circa £100 on PAYG mark. So we decided we had better get around to unboxing and reviewing it.

Being part of the X Series range, the device is based around music and although fairly basic it does come with a very affordable price tag.

Running Symbian Series 40 the user interface will be familiar to Nokia users and therefore navigating the phones menu will be a piece of cake. Unlike the Nokia X6, we have previously reviewed, this one comes with a proper hardware keypad which most Nokia users are used too.

With its music controls located along side the screen could the Nokia X3 be a good alternative to carrying an MP3 player? Only one way to find out. Lets unbox and put it to the test.

iPhone 4 Bumper Giveaway to Cost $175 million

To sort out the antenna problem with the iPhone 4, Apple is giving away free bumpers to all iPhone 4 owners. But as they don’t just appear out of thin air, Apple is going to set aside $175 million of iPhone 4 revenue in the September quarter, according to Apple’s CFO Peter Oppenheimer during the Q3 earnings conference call. But as in the same conference call they reveiled that they earned over $15 billion, shelling out $175 million for iPhone cases, won’t be too much of a catastrophe for Apple.

The $175 million might seem a huge amount for normal people like us, but compered the $1.5 billion Apple would have to pay for a full recall of the iPhone 4 as some industry analysts are predicting, giving away free cases is a much better option for Apple.

You Can No Longer Buy a Nexus One :(

A couple of days ago, Google announced that they had just received the last shipment of Nexus One’s. But today, Google has just sold out of Nexus One’s on it’s online store. The Nexus One was the official Google developer phone and was wildly known as one of the best handsets out there, even though it did not catch on outside of the geek community.

However, as we said a couple of days ago, the Nexus One will still be available through Vodafone in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and here in the UK with a contract of course. So you can get the Nexus One if you really want it from Vodafone, but you better hurry, as they will stop selling them when they run out of stock.

There is only one thing to say. Nexus One, we will miss you.

New giffgaff iPhone app

giffgaff-original We may have mentioned giffgaff once or twice in the past and we quite like the way in which they operate, offering their customers, or members in their lingo, rewards for helping other members or for referring friends that then become members.

Today giffgaff launched a new iPhone app that allows you to look after your giffgaff account, refer your friends and to read and participate in their forums.

confidence has created an iPhone application called Mygiffgaff which is a beautiful execution of a very useful program that allows you to check your giffgaff balance as well as see which goodybags you have active and which one you have queued up.

Check it out!

Engadget interview Joe Belfiore

Belfiore_print

If you saw our post on Windows Phone 7 yesterday you would have been directed over to engadget where they have done some great hands on work with WP7. In additionI have just stumbled upon an interview they did with Joe Belfiore who if you are not familiar with is the VP for Windows Phones.

The interview is fairly informative and you can see Joe discussing WP7 features that will be both present and non present at the launch later in the year.

It sure sounds like Microsoft have been working their socks off with this project and they need to. This could be make or break for them in the mobile market. I suspect the success of Windows Phone 7 will not go the same way as the KIN devices have done recently.

Head on over to Engadget and check out the interview.

HP Color LaserJet CP1515n review

CP151 Not so long ago a colour laser printer was a luxury item even for larger businesses and you’d have to have been a seriously hardcore user to warrant one for home use. It wasn’t just the cost, my first colour laser was cost me around £4000 ten years ago, but the size of the older models was also quite prohibitive. I recall that the one I had was about the same size as a small refrigerator and took three of us to carry and move in to location.

Obviously things have changed a lot in the past few years and like everything else the price of colour laser printers has tumbled and new technology has enabled them to drastically reduce in size. This HP Colour LaserJet CP1515n that we are reviewing for it247.com is not much larger than an multi-function inkjet printer and would probably find a place on most peoples desks at both work or home.

The cost may also surprise you, £180.15 including VAT for a colour laser printer is quite incredible! Oh and don’t forget the £50 cashback!

So does the size and price lead to a quality compromise? Read on to find out.

More HTC Ace/HTC Desire HD speculation

HTC Logo

Over the past few days various websites have been reporting that the HTC Ace will in fact be called the HTC Desire HD.

While nothing is confirmed we have been informed by a few different reliable sources that the Ace will indeed be released at the HTC Desire HD and not under the HTC Ace codename. Personally I liked HTC Ace as a device name but it seems that it’s not to be.
