Review: Motorola XT720

motorola-XT720-milestone-1

The Motorola XT720 is the latest super phone from Motorola that packages a hefty 8mp camera capable of capturing HD Widescreen video. So what is it? Does it have the beans to take on the iPhone 4 or is it just a feature phone with an extra lump on the side?

virgin-mobile-logo-001

Virgin Media has slashed tariffs on the Blackberry Curve 8520 in a bid to corner the student market and reward Virgin Media customers.

The company is offering the Blackberry Curve at £12 per month on a 24 month contract but students with an NUJ card will get a further 15% a month off the deal.

Existing Virgin Media customers with home entertainment services are also targeted, getting the Blackberry Curve on a 24 month contract for £10 per month.

iOS 4.1 Coming on September 8th

Apple Logo

According to Apple’s UK website, iOS 4.1 will hit devices on September 8th. Which will probably mean that the brand new iPods announced on Wednesday along side iOS 4.1 will be released on that day. Now this just speculation but I think it is safe to say that it will happen on September 8th.

iOS 4.1 brings many bug fixes to do with proximity sensor issue, Bluetooth, and iPhone 3G performance but it also brings many new features such as HDR Photos, TV show rentals, HD video uploads over WiFi and Game Center.

Toshiba Camileo S20 unboxing video

s20 Over the past few years we’ve reviewed a ton of HD camcorders here on tracyandmatt and it seems that every other model we receive claims to be, at the time, the worlds smallest, thinnest or lightest HD camcorder. So Toshiba are joining this party with their Camileo S20. Probably not not the thinnest or smallest camcorder on the market the S20 is still pretty slim and is certainly light, at 115 grams it’s about the same weight as your average mobile.

The limited size does came at a cost though, as the Camileo S20 does not have an optical zoom but instead a 4x digital. However the spec is still pretty good in every other respect with a 5mp sensor and capable of recording 1080p and 720p video and coming in at under £140 over at IT247.com

The full review is coming up over the next week or so but for now you can check out the unbox to see what it’s all about.

Angry Birds comes to Android

Angry It was only a couple of weeks ago that we told you that the popular game ‘Angry Birds’ had arrived on WebOS. Now you can go and grab the beta in the Android Market.

Being beta it is going to see changes but in the meantime it will give you a tonne of fun.

I must warn you though. It is very addictive so you may want to wait until you finish work.

BlackBerry 9670 Clamshell to be called the Style

blackberry-style-9670

Well I wasn’t expecting this. Kevin from crackberry.com has announced that the forthcoming BlackBerry 9670 clamshell will be part of a new family name – called Style.

I was personally expecting this one to fall into the Curve family.

Not sure if we will see this one here in the UK as it was tipped for being on the Verizon network in the states. Will RIM produce a GSM version as well? Who knows but I can see this one being more popular over the pond if I am honest.

Let us know what you think of the device and its new (and slightly strange) name over on the forum.

iSpy an iTV update – Apple’s “hobby” gets a $99 facelift, Coldplay at loose end

atv1 Like a dog with a rubber toy, Apple just won’t let go of the Apple TV, but this time it’s looking promising.  With refeshing honesty (see Steve, you can admit when things don’t work!), Apple admits that the Apple TV was “not a big hit” so has practically reinvented the device, keeping only the name (which will incidentally still be Apple TV until Jobs buys ITV and forces it from them).  They’ve also drastically reinvented the size and the price, bringing both down by about 2/3rds.

Huawei IDEOS Demo Video

Huawei-Ideos-U8150-B-Android

You may have seen earlier that Matt and myself were at the launch of the IDEOS from Huawei. The low cost Android device is the first to come pre loaded with Android 2.2 on it and a real step in the right direction for Huawei.

As you will see in the video the device is not the biggest but sits comfortably in the hand and is packed full of all the goodness you would expect from Froyo.

We played with the blue one but the IDEOS will be available in four different colours to suit your personality.

Check out the video below and please let us know what you think of the device over on our forum.
