Brodit holder for iPhone 3G review

image Just wanted to put up a quick review of a car mounting solution that I consider to be the best by far of any solution I have come across so far. Its called a Brodit Mount and is a two part solution when matched with a Pro-Clip. If like me you want a mounting solution that does not involve screwing holders into your dashboard then check out this great solution.

Android is a feature phone not a smartphone

image According to PC Magazine’s Lance Ulanoff Android’s true target isn’t the 19 percent of phones running OS’s, like BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and Mac OS. It’s the other 81 percent of phones, which aren’t smartphones and run operating systems you’ve never heard of like Nucleus and P2K. This large part of the market we call feature phones has become more and more powerful, hardware-wise, over the past few years.

Sony Ericsson W902 overview

It’s always a challenge for mobile phone manufacturers – getting the balance right between music, camera and, lets call it “business” functionality. It was with baited breath, then, that interested parties awaited the arrival of the Sony Ericsson W902.

With its scratch-resistant TFT mineral glass display (2.2-inch) and 8 GB memory stick Micro card for starters, it as great credentials for claiming to re-introduce the much vaunted, highly-prized but oh so rare “wow” factor.

Sony Ericsson rightly describes the W902 as having “outstanding musical sound”, while also providing a 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus…it looks good, sounds good and does not skimp on the essentials (including an excellent battery life).

Add Google Maps, and an accelerometer – known perhaps most widely as an iPhone feature – and a host of personal apps and we are getting close to raising the bar on what to expect from a workaday mobile phone.

If it is unfamiliar to you, an accelerometer in a mobile phone context is a hidden technology that helps the wheels go round more smoothly. It detects and measures vibrations or acceleration due to gravity (inclination). It helps stabilise the music player in motion, in game playing and for step counters, user interface controls and switching between portrait and landscape modes.

The W902 offers quadband international GSM roaming and HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) – the 3G protocol that supports high-speed data transfer and Web interaction.

So well done Sony Ericsson for combing the cameraphone and audio-centric handset in a positive, no-compromise fashion.

She has posted her impressions of the software especially compared with the rather impressive Kinoma Play software we reviewed a few week back. If you don’t know Core Player is the commercial software that spawned from the free open source software TCPMP.
