Nedge2k over at MSMobileNews has just posted a great review of the ETEN G500.

The ETEN G500 is was one of the first devices to include a built in GPS unit.
In what will be the last review nedge2k does for MSMobileNews he has this to say of the G500:
“The first thing that strikes you about this device when you get it out of the box is its size. When you see pictures of it, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s huge when in reality it’s a pretty average size. Packed inside the G500 you can find an SiRF Star III GPS chipset (with TMC), 400Mhz Samsung CPU, 1.3MP camera, 2.8” QVGA TFT touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0, Quadband GSM, 128MB of user memory (256MB on the G500+), FM radio (with RDS!) and a miniSD slot.”
“This phone is one hell of a mixed bag; so many good points but at the same time, quite a few bad ones. It has some really great hardware but then gets let down by poor build quality. It has handy, well thought out applications that get let down by what I hope are just mistakes/oversights.”

I was having a conversation with a software developer the other day and he mentioned something about the HTC P4350 that, while I’d noticed, I hadn’t really considered.

Take a look at the picture above. Those of you with an HTC TyTN or Orange M3100 notice anything ‘strange’? The keyboard on the HTC P4350 opens in the other direction to every other sliding keyboard device from HTC.
“So what!?” I hear you say. Well from a developer point of view you can no longer make the assumption that when the keyboard is open and the device is in landscape that the keyboard is to the left of the screen, now it could be to the right too!
So should anyone else care? Well as I look at the device I think that the keyboard opening to the right is going to suit me better. As a left handed person it will be easier for me to slide open with one hand.
Is there a good reason for this change or is it just because the designer at HTC is left handed? Any thoughts?

‘12 Days of Christmas‘ competition.
A few weeks ago I decided to get some t-shirts made with our logo on them. I thought they would come in handy when we go to seminars and product launches as well as being able to advertise the site when I am in the gym!

I had a look around for companies that print custom t-shirt designs and came across Spreadshirt. The reason I decided to get some t-shirts made by them is that they will do single items and they have a large selection of products that you can have printed.

Spreadshirt is the leader in online merchandising: letting individuals and organisations start an online shop at no cost and no risk. With a focus on individually produced customised apparel, the shop system allows designers create and sell their shirts for free – earning commissions on each sale. Spreadshirt has been recognised as a leader in the field, with awards from Hewlett Packard Business Vision Award, Red Herring Europe 100 and the German Founder’s Award.
The other thing that’s really cool about spreadshirt is that you can set up your own brand store so that people can buy t-shirts with your designs on. This is a great idea if you run a small club where you want to be able to sell branded merchandise.
I set up a tracyandmatt.co.uk branded shop for anyone mad enough to want to wear one of our designs. You can take a look at our merchandise at tracyandmatt.spreadshirt.net.
I was so impressed with the quality of the clothing and the printing of the shirts that I order I asked Spreadshirt if they could give us some t-shirts for our competition. So here, courtesy of Spreadshirt, is your chance to win one of our t-shirts by answering the following Prize Question: How many different products do we have in our Spreadshirt store?
Please use our feedback form to submit your answer. Remember to include your full email address so that we can notify the winner and please let me know what size shirt you would like. We will accept entries until the next question is posted and will choose a winner at random.
Entry by using our feedback form only. Entries will not be accepted by any other method.

Cutouts for easy access to all function keys and headphone jack. Protects without compromising your device’s functions: allows you to protect, view and navigate without removing it from its case. Anti-slip material gives the device added traction and holding comfort, preventing the device from sliding off smooth surface (Great for placing on car dashboard).
