Win a case for your BlackBerry Bold 9900

getDynamicImage.aspx

A while ago we did a short video showing you some of the accessories Clove are now stocking for the BlackBerry Bold 9900. They have kindly said we can give away the Soft Shell and the Case-Mate Barley There Aluminum.

So how do you win one you may ask. Simple. All you need to do is be following both Clove and tracyandmatt on Twitter and retweet this post. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

We will pick two random winners in 48 hours and tweet the lucky winners names.

Entries are restricted to the UK due to postage posts.

Good luck.

Quick Review: TweetBook application for the Blackberry PlayBook

1

I have recently become an avid Twitter fan because I was originally a Facebook fan. What I liked about Facebook was the ‘posting a status’ feature, however posting too many status’ was seen as socially wrong, whereas, on Twitter, you can post as many ‘Status’ or ‘Tweets’ as you like.

If you had not guessed from the opening rant, TweetBook is a Twitter app for the Blackberry PlayBook; and what a brilliant one it is. TweetBook has nearly all the features you’ll need from Twitter, the ability to view profiles, the ability to search tweets, the ability to view personal lists and the ability to follow and unfollow people within the application.

TweetBook is designed very similarly to the Mobile Twitter website that you find on tablets with the multiple panels and the options along the top bar. On the left panel you have your Tweets that you can scroll down through; scrolling is very smooth and reactive.

RBS and NatWest customers now have a BlackBerry App

NatWest-blue-back-ground

From today, the millions of people in the UK who own a BlackBerry Smartphone can download the RBS & NatWest banking app. Customers with the brand new app will be able to check their balance, see their last 6 transactions and even transfer funds between accounts.
It’s clear that customers are increasingly turning to their mobiles to help keep tabs on their banking. This new app means they can transfer money when short of cash, check their account balance, and even pinpoint the closest ATM if ever short of a few pounds. Essentially it provides RBS and NatWest customers with a simpler way to manage their money – all from their BlackBerry smartphone.
Today’s exciting announcement also means customers with BlackBerry smartphones will be able to :
*             See all accounts they hold with either NatWest or RBS, and check balances
*             View their last 6 transactions
*             Manage and receive SMS text message alerts
*             Top up their pre-paid mobile account.
This new app joins the banks phenomenally successful iPhone and iPad banking app. RBS and NatWest have already seen hundreds of thousands of customers regularly using these banking apps since they launched earlier in the year.

Satyendra Chelvendra, Managing Director, Consumer Distribution commented:
“We know that our apps are making everyday banking that little bit more helpful and convenient. We’ve been working hard to provide the most advanced banking apps for our customers, so we’re thrilled that we can the lead the way once more as we launch one of the first mobile banking apps for the BlackBerry.”

Being a NatWest customer myself I am clearly overjoyed with this new app. Once downloaded, registration takes just a couple of minutes and then it is a case of waiting for authorization which can take up to 24 hours. I am now waiting.

Classic games to play on the latest handheld devices

games If the intense competition surrounding the development and production of online games has proved they are something worth creating, then the popularity of the most-played games and the financial rewards that come with them will inspire many software writers and programmers.
Currently, much of the focus is on games for the small screen. First came the Nintendo DS and Sony’s PSP. Both however, were rapidly put into the shade with the development, in particular, of the iPhone and the rise of the app.

What’s more, the depth of the online gaming and downloadable app market means there’s something for everyone. With that in mind, here’s a small sample of the best games available for the three biggest online gaming demographics:

Evernote comes to the BlackBerry PlayBook

E2

One of my favorite applications Evernote is now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook. This multi platform application will allow you to take notes on a device and the information will then be synced with any other devices, including PC/Mac enabling you to view your notes on whatever device you happen to be using at the time.

Although the notes feature is the only one I use Evernote is capable of several other features. To find out more you can visit their webpage here.

Head on over to App World from your PlayBook and grab the download. It’s free!

App Review – Aliens Invasion for Android

AI1

After searching the Android Market for hours, I found it, Hooray! A cool looking game, and it was Free!
Then a quick download and WOW!
What a game it is.

The game I’m talking about is of course Aliens Invasion by iTreeGamer

After giving it a quick shot, over an hour has passed and I saw the magic of the game. Aliens Invasion is an arcade style game. Basically you are a Cowboy who runs around and shoots aliens in an old western-like world, overall the game is very easy to pick up and play for a very long time.

BlackBerry device launch dates from Clove

Screen Shot 2011-09-07 at 08.24.37

With three new BlackBerry Smartphones still due for release here in the UK Clove have kindly let us know when they expect to be shipping stock. All three devices are now available to pre-order on the Clove website, although pricing still has to be confirmed.

BlackBerry Torch 9860  – Due 19th September

BlackBerry Torch 9810 – Due 3rd October

BlackBerry Curve 9360 – 3rd October

With the BlackBerry Curve 9360 currently being priced at £249.00 it will be interesting to see how the carriers price the device on PAYG. If they expect similar success compared to the 9300 and 8520 then this price really could do with dropping. Anyway, not long to wait until we can find out.
