Sony Ericsson announces the Vivaz Pro

vivazpro We already knew that the Vivaz was coming but what we didnt expect was this sliding QWERTY keyboarded version, the Vizaz Pro.

Yet another good looking and exciting handset coming from Sony Ericsson and not one that we are going to have to wait until the end of the year for, the Vivaz Pro will be yours to own the first half of 2010!

Perhaps one of the most impressive facts about the Vivaz Pro is that it’s going to be just 2mm thicker than the Vivaz, amazing that the keyboard mechanism adds so little to the overall size!

Full spec follows:

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and mini pro

x10mini Sony Ericsson have been busy today announcing 5 new handsets at MWC. Several of these handsets came totally out of the blue and it’s very unusual not to know about these things before they are announced. I think that the X10 mini and mini pro are going to be awesome!

The X10 mini rather reminds me of the Neonode N2. It’s great to see something exciting from Sony Ericsson and it’s now quite clear why they dropped the X2!

The full press release follows after the break.

Sony Ericsson announce 5 new handsets at MWC

sony-ericsson-logo We thought we would hear about 3 new handsets today but it turns out that Sony Ericsson have 5 new handsets in store for us.

We already knew about the Xperia X10 and the Vivaz but we also learn of the Vivaz PRO, X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro(!) all of these will be available in the first half of 2010, the X10 and the Vivaz in Q1.

Lots of talk about organic design and the human element of design, combining emotional and logical design.

We’ll have images of the devices announced as soon as we can!

Also discussed was the GreenHeart philosophy with the Sony Ericsson Aspen being the first ‘green’ or ‘sustainable’ Windows Mobile phone. Bert Nordberg, President of Sony Ericsson also stated that they aim to have ALL handset be sustainable by 2011.

Sony Ericsson press conference live from MWC

sony-ericsson-logo Well you might think that MWC doesn’t start until tomorrow but that’s not going to stop Sony Ericsson! They’ve scheduled a press conference this evening and it’s all set to start at 6PM UK time – 7PM in Spain.

We’re expecting to see a number of devices officially announced. The Sony Ericsson Aspen, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. I’m sure that there will also be some comments about the GreenHeart philosophy too.

The live video steam starts at 6PM (or probably a little before) and you can find the video embedded after the jump below. I’ll also be monitoring the event and will post any press releases etc. that Sony Ericsson send me, I’m pretty sure there will be something official about the handsets.

James also has a one-to-one meeting with someone from Sony Ericsson tomorrow so please let us know if you would like him to ask any specific questions!

HTC Photon to be the HTC HD Mini?

On Thursday last week Matt mentioned that he had heard rumours of the HTC HD Mini and wondered if we’d see it launched by HTC at MWC. Now it would seem that there are a shed load more rumours about the device we expect to be the HD Mini and we expect that it may well be the device we knew as codenamed HTC Photon.

We first ‘saw’ the HTC Photon in the HTC 2010 roadmap leak back in December last year. In fact it was one of the few Windows Mobile handsets to be mentioned on the roadmap.

Check out the spec of the HTC Photon and possibly the HD Mini after the jump:

SanDisk Sansa Clip+ unboxing video

Clip-angled-right I think that we’ve probably reviewed all of the Sansa MP3 player models from SanDisk’s range from the Sansa e200 series a few years ago and now to this latest Sansa Clip+ model.

In the past the Sansa models have impressed us, offering good sound quality and stunning battery life. What’s more they are all quite inexpensive and, I think, a good alternative to the likes of the iPod as long as you can do without iTunes integration.

The SanDisk seem to be making these little players to last too as I first reviewed the Sansa e270 back in 2006 and the little player still works perfectly and the battery life is showing no signs of diminishing!

The Clip+ is basically an updated version of the Sansa Clip that we saw back in 2008. This new version is smaller and lighter than the earlier model and also now has a microSDHC memory card slot that can take up to 32GB memory cards which, coupled with the 4GB internal memory gives you a whopping 36GB, plenty of space for a tiny player I would think!

Have a look at the video after the jump for a quick tour around the player and a brief look at the menus.

HTC Photon to be unveiled at MWC?

htc-photon-wm-htc-hd-mini-mwc

Dubbed the HTC HD Mini, this Windows Mobile 6.5 device looks to be a replacement for the aging Touch Viva or Touch 3G but obviously pulling in the HD’s high class influence. It packs a 3.2-inch HVGA touch screen display, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, 600MHz Qualcomm processor, WiFi, HSPA connectivity, GPS, 3.5m jack, and runs on Windows Mobile 6.5. There’s really nothing overly exciting or groundbreaking about this particular HTC handset so I guess this means that it won’t come with a ridiculously steep price tag either.

Word is the HTC HD Mini will be released this coming April. This isn’t confirmed though, but hopefully, it will be once it’s officially launched in Spain in the next couple of days.

HTC Legend pics emerge

64217774-540x405

The sequel to the great HTC Hero has been spotted in the wild. The Legend is a notable upgrade to the Hero and looks the part too. My only comment is that if they upgrade the aerial stack then this will be a phone to watch.
