TealOS – Palm Pre on your Palm OS phone

image While everyone is waiting and watching (and drooling) for the chance to get hold of a new Palm Pre, Tealpoint Software is staying old school. Palm users are familiar with great apps from Tealpoint: TealLock, TealScript, TealBackup, and others. A name Palm enthusiasts have come to know and trust, Teal is stepping out of the crowd to show that the old Palm os (Garnet) is not quite dead yet. For a limited time, you can purchase TealOS for $14.95 (expected to soon go to $19.95), and give your Palm Treo or Centro a facelift and feel closer to the new face of Palm and WebOS.

If you have watched any of the videos demo’ing the Pre, you’re familiar with what it looks like, and the basic operation. Either it didn’t take the developers at Tealpoint long to copy the look/feel, or they had some inside knowledge as to what to expect. Take a look at the video after the break its pretty darn good.

XBOX 360 Competition Winner

Just over a month ago we started our ‘Win an XBOX 360’ competition. I have to say that the number of entries has been overwhelming, more than any other competition that we’ve ever had here in tracyandmatt.co.uk

Firstly I should apologise for not announcing the winner on time. It has been an exceptionally busy week with press releases coming out of MWC every 5 minutes!

However, down to business. I’m pleased to say that we have a winner of the XBOX 360 console provided by Clickonplastics.co.uk . The winner is Jake Simpson. Jake was picked at random from the list of people that correctly answered the question: "In terms of plastic products, what does SRBF stand for?"  and of course the answer you should have come up with from the clickonplastics webite is: "Synthetic Resin Bonded Fabric".

Congratulations to you then Jake, the 360 is on its way to you!

We’ll have another competition starting soon so be sure to come back and have a look!

Is a sync client a necessity for a good mobile music experience?

image I have been giving media a huge amount of thought over the past few months and why it is so successful on the iPhone, but such a bad experience on other devices. Ask most Windows Mobile users what they use to listen to media on their device and nearly always the answer is “I don’t use my device to listen to music.” Now why is that. Well I think I know the answer, quite simple there is no software that can provide a good experience with organising music, videos or podcasts quite like iTunes. Lots of people hate iTunes but for me it is an amazingly simple solution for organising your media.

Palm Pre product manager interview from MWC 09

image ZDNet managed to get an interview with Palm product line manager Rob Katcher about the Pre and webOS at Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona. In the video he talks about the Pre, development of applications and a few other interesting questions thrown at him. The Pre is looking like a great device however I am still concerned that we have not seen any information, or demonstrations of the media player yet. If you know different let me know. Video after the break.
