Herocraft release Stolen In 60 Seconds

Stolen In 60 Seconds, gold winner of Samsung Game Development Contest 2007 now available for PDA & Smartphones!

Stolen In 60 Seconds

Stolen In 60 Seconds

The sole thing which distinguishes the organization of a great burglary from the planning of a military operation is a scale. And a real leader of a criminal group has a number of cares neither less than a military commander has. His hands are full, he should trouble about a lot of totally diverse works, like the collection of information about a place of the next action, the elucidation of the situation of vulnerable sites of an unit, the assignment of roles and tasks, the right distribution of resources and time. Should it be mentioned that he also has to think out a course of an operation, to take care about the security and to provide all chances which can have influence upon the results of an affair in whole.

$tolen In $ixty $econds offers to feel yourself in shoes of a criminal boss. This unique project, which combined genres of strategy and puzzle, gives a chance to test your abilities in management and planning. The uncommonness of tasks, ease of a game style and the stunning refinement of quests are the components of a cocktail which will suit even the most carping gamers’ taste.

Firstly the game attracts by its simplicity. As a head of gangster band you should rob shops, banks and offices. A player is able to use a scheme of a building, a tool kit for burglary and so on. There is also an opportunity to get the additional information about the location of values and signalling guard zones. It’s necessary to seek out executors of intended robbery, to supply them with appropriate equipment and to plan their activities. The key stage is the stepwise planning of a burglary, preceding an action itself in a real-time mode. A training mode removes any difficulties apropos of rules and no longer than after a couple of well-done operations you’ll fell yourself as an expert of the misappropriation. But gradually a number of new shades and niceties of the game world reveals, and the uninterruptedly increasing complication of tasks doesn’t leave any chance to use only one successful scheme. Before every new affair you’ll have to make a grave choice – to pay to intelligencers or to rely on good fortune, to take risk in a desire to snatch a large sum or to engage a well staffed professional crew that can ensure results, but takes almost all plunder.

The detailed information about the game, including screenshots, trailers and links for demo versions is available on HeroCraft PDA official site – http://smart.herocraft.com/sss

Game features:

  • A combination of the stepwise planning of a burglary and the action itself in a real-time mode
  • A dozen thieves tools
  • The increasing complication of quests
  • About two dozen original operations
  • Smart sound and vivid graphics
  • Atmosphere of the real gangster den

iPhone style keyboard for Windows Mobile

I’m surprised its taken this long really, but an iPhone style keyboard has been developed for Windows Mobile.

This could be a really major improvement to our favourite devices really. Every feature you’d perhaps want, is already included, and best of all its currently free! Here is the speil from the offical website:

First of all, it offers a visible feedback of the key currently pressed, you can imagine that your finger is on the keyboard… and now you can easily see what key is pressed.

Second important thing: you can move your finger, the key will change, release it, the key will be triggered (so it’s the opposite of a physical keyboard: the actual action is when you release the key, not when you push it).

The third reason that it works is smart suggestion based on key position. If you look at the screenshot you can see that I typed “leyblaed”. This word doesn’t exist in english. The keyboard then looked at all the possible variation from this word… and found “keyboard”. That’s exactly the word I wanted to type.

How does the keyboard do? it simply uses the letter position: ‘l’ is near ‘k’, ‘eyb’ are correct, ‘l’ is also near ‘o’, the ‘a’ is correct, then ‘e’ is near ‘r’ and ‘d’ is correct. The only possible matching word is “keyboard”.

You can download this ingenious – and FREE – input addon HERE

Nikon announce 25,600 ISO flagship D3

Nikon has announced its newest flgaship DSLR, the Nikon D3.

    Nikon D3

    Nikon D3

The Nikon D3 has a few rather astonishing points in its specification. First of all, Nikon claim that the D3 has the fastest start up time of any DSLR and the shortest shutter lag. There’s also a 12.1 mega pixel, full frame CMOS sensor and a 190,000 pixel, 3″, LCD monitor on the rear. You also get a 51 point auto focus system. But the thing that’s truly amazing is the 25,600 ISO setting! Most DSLR’s have a 3200 or 6400 ISO maximum so clearly the D3 has one sensitive sensor!

The Nikon D3 will be launched in November and will cost around $4999 (£2600).

    O2 Blackberry Curve unboxed

I look after a team of about 40 mobile users. More than half of them have Windows mobile devices of one sort or another. There is one thing that really bugs me though, and that’s the fact that everyone insists on calling any device with a keyboard a ‘Blackberry’!

It really isn’t that I have anything against Blackberry as such but it’s the same as calling all MP3 players and iPod (which also happens).

I wonder if this will be something familiar to other people out there that support a number of business users?

Anyway, we have been asked a lot recently about the differences between Blackberry and Windows Mobile and many people email to ask “Should I get a Blackberry or a Smartphone?”

We are keen to provide a balanced view of all technologies, so we thought that the best way to address this would be to review a Blackberry and compare it to Windows Mobile in the real world. O2 kindly sent us the rather attractive looking Blackberry Curve and Alasdair will be putting together a review for us in the coming weeks.

Here’s a brief unbox video of the device with a very quick comparison to a couple of WM models.

    O2 Blackberry Curve

As always, feel free add your comments or to ask questions and we’ll do our best to cover them in the review (if not before).

    Windows Mobile upgrade news

Two snippets of news for Windows Mobile 6 fans.

Firstly, according to reports circulating on the net, the O2 UK Graphite is now being shipped with Windows Mobile 6 pre-installed. It even comes complete with a nice “WM6 Upgrade” sticker and logo on the box! As the ROM version is only marked as July 11th 2007, I’d say its a fairly new situation – which means old stocks of WM5 are probably still about as well.

It may be worth requesting a WM6 version when you order!

In the second of todays WM6 related news, the latest HTC device to get a free upgrade to WM6 is the HTC Herald (HTC P4350). Rather like the other devices to be upgraded, the ROM update must be downloaded from the HTC website, and a valid device IMEI is required to gain access.

More information can be found here (http://www.europe.htc.com/en/press/latestnews.html) or from the HTC eClub in the My Downloads section.

Either that or wait for it to leak!

Orange to shift the HTC Shift?

About a week ago I mentioned a rumour that had been circulating about the possibility of some exclusive HTC devices coming to the Orange network. Since then a number of messages have arrived in my email box that seem to support the rumour.

Two anonymous tipsters, one of which claims to have some involvement with Orange, both suggested the same thing; Orange’s new ‘HTC Exclusive’ device package will be an HTC Shift based unit coupled with Microsoft Communicator and an OCS 2007 backend on a flat rate, unlimited data tariff.

While this seems to be nothing more than speculation at the moment, several different sources seem to be claiming the same thing. Personally I would be surprised to see Orange shift to the UMPC market, especially when they seem not to have shown any interest in the HTC Advantage. I don’t think that Orange would consider rolling out Microsoft Communicator and OCS 2007 to it’s customers and it really would be a big ask for their customer service team to be able to support it!

As for the unlimited data tariff, it would probably be capped at 100MB! 😛

Orange have not responded to my emails and have neither confirmed nor denied the rumour but, as always, if you know anything else then please drop us a line and we’ll share it with everyone else!
