BlackBerry Bold 9900 Review

BlackBerry Bold 9900 ReviewResearch in Motion (RIM) have been getting some pretty heavy criticism recently and it is now time for another flagship device, the Bold 9900.  The previous Bold, the 9780, was just a rehash of the 9700 with a very few improved specs, so it is great to see that things have changed quite a lot with the 9900. Many users of the original Bold, the 9000, loved the device so much due to its size and it looks like RIM have listened to its customers as the new Bold 9900 is very similar with the added bonus of losing the track ball in favour of the track pad and some other great specs including a capacitive touch screen as well as a 1.2 GHz processor.

In North America, BlackBerry sales have been plummeting in with users opting for other platforms such as Android and iOS. That said, worldwide BlackBerry sales are far from doom and gloom. RIM shipped 13.2 million devices in the last quarter which is not bad at all.

There is no doubt that the 9900 will be a huge hit but the big question is will it bring back lost customers to the BlackBerry platform?

Read on to see the full review as well as my thoughts on whether the Bold 9900 can carry RIM through the next year or so as a flagship device.

LG Optimus Black review

OptimusBlack-Main LG’s Optimus Black has put itself in a crowded market. This phone is boasting some high end specs, with its NOVA screen technology and slim profile but can it stand out from the crowd? We’re looking beyond the flash PR box that was sent to us and comparing it to some other top spec phones.

Alienware M17x R3 Review

Alienware M17x R3The Alienware M17x is now in it’s third-generation and it is one of the most powerful laptops in the world: Available with SSDs, a 3D 1080p screen, quad-core Intel I7 processors, up to 16 GB of RAM and top end NVIDIA graphics cards.

The M17x is definitely a top-shelf gaming notebook on paper but is that the case in practise? Read on to find out!

Synaps External Battery Reviews

Synaps External Battery I’ve recently been provided with two different types of external battery power for the Apple iPhone 4.

Both are made by Synaps. The first is the ‘Power case contour battery pack‘ (JP1300).

This external battery has been designed to fit the iPhone 4 and be used as a case as well as a method of charging your battery. Its available in Blue, Red and the colour I have been supplied, Black.

The packaging is clean and displays the product well. It’s typical retail accessory packaging, which can be seen as a negative as it wouldn’t stand out on a shelf of other accessories.

Once opened, you’ll find the battery pack, a micro-usb charger and a manual. It’s a real shame they decided to include a micro-usb charger instead of the official Apple dock connection as this means you need to carry an additional cable with you. The micro-usb cable does work with the USB plug supplied with the iPhone 4.

Kodak Easyshare Max Z990 review

Kodak Easyshare Max Z990 review Kodak as we all know, have been around for a very long time, providing great affordable digital cameras to the masses, but they haven’t often ventured into the what I would call ‘Beginner photographer’ market. By this I mean the Bridge camera as this is often seen as the stop gap between a blooming photographers becoming a professional user, the obvious next step after a bridge camera is a DSLR which are A LOT more expensive than this one.

I have in for review a brand new Bridge camera from Kodak named- Kodak Easyshare Max Z990. Will this stack up against the competition or fall flat on its face due to relative inexperience in the field of bridge cameras?

Star Front Collision review on Android

When it comes to games on the Android platform there isn’t too much of large, lavish and ambitious titles. Especially when compared to the iPhone. Its getting there but the platform still has a bit way to go before it can be considered a gaming platform.

So, it takes a large company like Gameloft to put together the more ambitious graphical titles. Love them or hate them Gameloft have an impressive line up.
As with many of their games Star Front is an obvious copy of a bigger game on another platform. Just as Modern Combat borrows from the Modern Warfare games in the Call of Duty barrel and Shadow Guardian has an uncanny resemblance to Uncharted on the PlayStation, Star Front conjures up a familiar feeling of the Star Craft games on the PC. Whilst one could say this lacks imagination other will be pleasured to play their favourite games on the go.

Right from the word go Star Front looks good, and feeling a lot like the Star Craft 2 it mimics.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo review

XperiaNeo-Main Although this is the last of the three new devices launched at MWC in February, it doesn’t mean it’s an insignificant or ‘bad’ phone. Despite sitting below the Arc, the imaging capabilities headline the neo’s feature list along with all of the usual gizmos you’d expect from a reasonably high-end smartphone.

The Xperia Neo builds on from the success of the Vivaz, as well as Sony Ericsson’s new aversion to proper capitalisation. Even so, the neo is packed with features that make this a formidable all-rounded Android device – a Bravia enhanced 3.7 inch touchscreen borrowed from Sony TVs and an Exmor camera sensor borrowed from the Cybershot range gives it the credentials on paper, but how does it perform in real world use?

Vodafone 858 Smart Review

Vodafone 858 Smart The Vodafone 858 Smart is an entry level Android device from the network itself. The phone is entering a seriously crowded market with competition from the Samsung Galaxy Europa and the Orange San Francisco but what sets the device from the crowd is it’s extremely competitive price of £60.

The small Huawei-made handset may be cheap but does the price offset some of the relatively poor specs or is it worth spending a little more on a higher-spec device? Read on to see!
