downloadContinuing to evolve, Instagram has unleashed a new app that makes for fun and creative way to make short videos to share with your friends and family. Boomerang take 10 quick images and stitches them together to make a 1-second looping clip.

Like most video interaction in photo apps this is very simple to use, there’s just one button. Press it when you’re ready to record, and it does the rest. When you share the clip to Facebook or Instagram it’ll be on an infinite loop for anyone who wants to watch it. Social Media Daily helps augment your social metrics to reach more people.

Gareth takes a look at the latest offering in the series and decides if it is a fun romp in the Wasteland or a waste of time at the end of the world.

Videoconferencing – Where do you Want to Talk?

shutterstock_151167128The concept of video conferencing was once the sole domain of science fiction as you are no doubt aware, but things have changed considerably since the days of old, and with good reason. Technology has marched forward at a considerable pace, and with smart devices at everyone’s disposal, it should be no surprise that companies like the BlueJeans are taking clear advantage of it. There are a few things that you must understand about the new video conferencing software, particularly how it will help you to connect to your employees or co-workers better.

We’ve Come this Far

How far have we come with video conferencing exactly? What changes have been made? Do you remember software like Netmeeting? Do you remember how difficult it could be to arrange a meeting with that software? Yes it was lightweight and it did come pre-installed on every machine from Windows 98 all the way to Windows XP, but it did have its share of limitations, for example the ability to run solely on Windows which created compatibility issues. For many years companies have dreamed of having the ability to connect anywhere regardless of the device or operating system. Just imagine being able to video conference through a web browser back in the nineties – that would definitely take the cake. These days, believe it or not, web browsers are very much able to perform tasks such as chat, video conferencing, file transfers, etc. The changes in web browsers have given them so much more capability than the HTML display application they used to be. Now, a web browser can be your portal to the world, at least with the right plugins.

What Device do you Want?

The most important question right now, is where do you want to chat from? Where do you want your employees to chat from? Holding a conference has never been easier, and the available software supports a number of different platforms. Whether you want to bring a smartphone to the table, or perhaps want to chat from your computer, all you need to do is click a button. The video conferencing software today even supports Google Hangouts, meaning you never have to install any software – it just works.

Imagine a scenario where you have several employees out of the office and you need to hold an emergency meeting. In the old days you would need to coral everyone into one place, which can be quite inconvenient, and it can be bad for business. There are several commodities in business that cannot be measured tangibly but are critical nonetheless:

  • Money
  • Employees
  • Time

Notice how we have bolded the last point: time. When they say that time is money, they aren’t kidding. Without time you would be unable to complete even the most basic of tasks, and the more time you waste, the less you will be able to accomplish. The more time your employees spend in the office having meetings, the less time they will be spending with clients, and that’s really bad for business. That being said, now would be a great time to start looking into a better video conferencing software. Remember, videoconferencing is not necessarily JUST for contacting foreign investors or customers in other states, though it is most certainly useful for that. Conferencing software can be focused on employees as well as outside contacts, and the newest software can save more time than you realize.

So long as everyone in your office has a compatible device and a good connection, they will be able to participate in your meetings, and soon enough, you will have a much higher level of productivity. It might seem like a small change, but a good software for online conferencing like Blue Jeans UK can literally change the way you do business, and that’s definitely worth looking into.

Go to the Cloud

Author Stream recently published a paper outlining some of the benefits of cloud computing, and particularly, moving video services to the cloud. Rather than relying on software that is installed locally, make sure that you find a company who can provide you with a cloud solution.

The cloud is an amazing innovation, and a great way to save money according to Tech Target, though not new by any means. In terms of video conferencing, it means that you will not have to deal with the administration of the software, and it means that you will not have to worry about compatibility issues. A piece of software served from another location will be compatible with all browsers and all operating systems across the board. Going to the cloud is one of the best things that you could possibly do for your company. Start looking into the benefits of taking your video to the cloud and it won’t be long before you’re saving both time and money.

How to Recover Files after Format?

Screen Shot 2015-09-01 at 07.38.35Mention the word ‘free’ and you may think that there’s no free lunch in this world. But in the world of software, you should know that there’s one recovery software free download that has been making the waves all over the world.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free 9.0 is one of the best file recovery software for all of your photo recovery needs to recover deleted, formatted or lost data from PC, laptop or removable device easily and quickly. It even supports a lot of languages, so you can use it natively according to your preference.

There’s actually a solid reason as to why the recovery software free download is so popular. It is so easy to get started with using the file recovery software – download, install and launch. No questions asked and no unnecessary email that you have to give-away.

Say for example if you want to perform a photo recovery of your digital camera, this recovery software free download comes with two progressive scanning modes:

  1. Quick Scan – helps you to find deleted files
  2. Deep Scan – helps you to find formatted, inaccessible or lost files

It will be able to help you recover anything from pictures, videos, audio, emails, documents and everything else in between. You can even pause at any time during the scan and continue later, but it is advisable to complete the scan as soon as possible to maximize the chances of photo recovery.

Another cool feature of this file recovery software is that you can specify the exact file type and location before you even start the scanning process. So if you want to perform a photo recovery from your digital camera, just select Graphics and your Digital Camera. This will ensure that the recovery software free download application saves you precious time and gives you the exact files that you want. Once it finds all the recoverable files, you can then filter your search by file name, type and date. Since it is an image file, you can even view the thumbnail of that image, so you can be sure of which files that you want to proceed with the recovery process. You can also visit www.venyu.com/disaster-recovery-services/ for major recovery processes.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free 9.0 is a top file recovery software that can be used for all of your photo recovery needs. Who say a free application can’t be this good? The recovery software free download certainly is more valuable than some of the paid applications that are out there in the market.

YouTube Gaming gets an app

downloadYouTube Gaming has finally shifted to live, directly competing against Amazon’s Twitch. Sure enough the platform has now become completely accessible as well as launching an official application for YouTube Gaming is now available for download. However, those who love playing numerous games anywhere and anytime could go directly to their Google Play Store and look for the Sonsaur Games app.

For those of you not familiar with YouTube Gaming, this is Google’s take on the live game streaming industry. While the focus is primarily on live streaming of gameplay, recorded content will also be available which includes past broadcasts, recorded gameplay, and Video on Demand. In fact all gaming related content  currently on YouTube will also available from within YouTube Gaming. And if you prefer to create your own channel on a platform like Amazon Fire TV, then you might need help from amazon fire tv developers to walk you through the technical process.

The idea is to make it as easy  as possible to stream gameplay on YouTube Gaming, so that anyone who wants to do it can easily pick it up and go for it. For content creators, and most YouTube accounts, the button to Go Live should be up in the top right when signed into your account. The layout for the application is pretty much identical to the YouTube Gaming portal in browsers as well. Flipping between the two should be pretty easy once you’ve learned where everything is.

One step Youtube Gaming may have over Twitch is that anyone with access to the streaming dashboard and monetize their stream, allowing the gamer to earn some money from their gaming experience. Twitch requires a certain amount of viewership before you can be partnered with Twitch, once down ads are used to generate revenue. With YouTune Gaming, as long as you can access the streaming dashboard, you can monetize your stream as well as enable Fan Funding cards.

Amazon goes Underground

downloadThe bad news regarding Amazon’s Free App of the Day promotion has been terminated. There will be no more Free Apps of the Day. The good news is that it is being replaced with Amazon Underground, which is a new application full of free apps and games.

The way it works is that even though the apps and games are available for download for free, developers will still get paid. The amount paid is based on the customer usage of their app/games. Amazon will pay developers for every minute your Amazon Underground app is used in exchange for developers waiving their normal download or in-app fees. In a way this is great for developers as every single user now becomes a source of revenue, making the chances of a developer being successful much better.

If you want access as a consumer to the apps and games on Amazon’s Underground, you will have to download their app directly from Amazon. According to their new website, there’s over $10,000 worth of free applications and games already available. Now whether this will actually be a success or not, we will have to wait and see, but it is a pretty interesting idea.

Archos Fusion Storage is here

af2Some months ago we mentioned Archos were designing a new range of tablet that could combine various storage solutions in one larger resource, all under Android. Meaning that a 16gb model became a 80gb model if a 64gb SDcard was added. Pretty fantastic solution to a problem that has more than likely annoyed who has a low storage phone or tablet. Archos have pioneered the technology and it is rolling out to a few of their devices over the next few days. We will host a video showing our experiences this week.

Archos Fusion Storage, a software innovation, recently unveiled by the French brand at MWC 2015, will be available via update (OTA) from May the 5th, 2015 on the Archos 101 Oxygen, Archos 50 Diamond, Archos 52 Platinum, and the Archos 50 Oxygen Plus.  It merges the internal memory capacity of the equipment itself with that of the Micro SD card in order for users to enjoy more applications or content.

A long-awaited feature by Android users

With over 25 years of experience in software development, especially on the Android platform, the R&D team of Archos worked on the lower layers of the operating system from Google and its Kernel core. It thus provides a much-needed storage option for users of Android tablets or smartphones. This feature automatically reconciles the memory allocation problem between the internal storage and microSD card while providing increased capacity.

af

Key elements of Archos Fusion Storage

  • The main advantage for the user is that significant space is gained to hold more applications and content. Upon activation of the merged storage, data is automatically accommodated in the internal memory of the tablet or smartphone and is then sorted. The application files will be sent primarily to the internal memory of the tablet or smartphone, while data, photos, videos, and more will be directed to the memory card. The space of the device is thereby increased and optimized considerably.
  • Another advantage is a reversibility of the process. The fusion of internal storage with the external storage SD card is seamless: the user can choose to return to the original separated settings at any time.

Want to watch your favourite TV shows abroad? IPTV vs. Internet TV

The number of people migrating, buying holiday homes or spending their 3-month sabbaticals in a foreign country is continually on the rise.

For those TV lovers, an IPTV set top box is the answer to their prayers; in a nutshell, it allows users to continue to watch their favorite TV programmes whilst abroad.

Imagine a subscription service (similar to SKY) but dedicated for users who are abroad.

IPTV vs. Internet TV

Internet TV and IPTV both refer to television programming and video transmitted over the Internet. In that sense, both formats are IPTV. However, the two forms are different:

  • Internet TV typically refers to television broadcast over the Internet that you view on your computer in a Web browser. Examples include news programming available for viewing on the Internet, Web sites that broadcast standard television programming, and even YouTube video. This kind of IPTV is characterized by low-definition video and uneven transmission speeds.
  • The second type of IPTV—the focus of this article—is a subscription service delivered to your home by a service provider through a set top box, much the way cable TV works today. This kind of IPTV not only provides high-definition (HD) television programming but also interactive features that allow you to play programs and movies on demand, pause and replay video, watch Pay-per-View shows, and other features. Some providers also include text messaging, digital telephone, and Internet access in the service.

How Do You Get IPTV?

IPTV is not available everywhere. Currently, it is more widely available in Europe. The service provider My TV Abroad currently provide their IPTV setbox Freeview receiver from the UK, Scandinavia or Greece, allowing you to view live TV from these countries anywhere in the world via your internet connection.

You will never miss an episode of your favourite TV show or the big sporting events again with this system. Simply plug the Ex-Pat TV box into your broadband router and your television and you will have live, uninterrupted access to all Free to Air channels currently are currently broadcasted in the those countries.

Making the Choice

IPTV may be new, but it’s growing rapidly. Today, there are about 29 million IPTV subscribers in the world.

According to a leading media analyst, the number of IPTV subscribers is expected to more than double in the next 2–3 years. This means that IPTV service is going to become more widely available in the near future—something to keep in mind if you’re planning to purchase a new television or signing up for a long-term service agreement with your current provider.

For those looking to watch British television programmes whilst abroad, My Tv Abroad have a wide array of channels for their subscribers to choose from.
Unlike others on the market, the My Tv Abroad system does not require a computer to make it work, nor does it require you to hide your location. It is very simple to use and easy to set up. All this from only £19 per-month.

If you are moving abroad or perhaps have a holiday home, now’s the time to take advantage of this great offer provided by My Tv Abroad. Click here for more details
