iPhone 3GS dropped in the pool. Still works!

We’ve heard about the awesome treats loaded on the iPhone 3GS and its new fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coated body, but did you know that it also possesses some amphibious traits as well? This short video demonstrates how an iPhone 3GS managed to stay alive even after taking a brief dip into the swimming pool. We’re not exactly sure if there are any long term effects to this heart-stopping and jaw-dropping accident, but I guess there weren’t any immediate problems as they still got the chance to upload the video of this amazing yet horrific tale. Granted that this news of the iPhone 3GS being slightly water-proof is certainly good to hear, we wouldn’t suggest you go out and try this one out for yourself. Just enjoy the video and be thankful you’re not the clumsy dude who dropped his new iPhone 3G S into the pool.

HTC launch event in London, 2009: video interview with boss of HTC Europe

image We are asking many questions but obviously plenty of stuff asked was relating to the future developments so it couldn’t be answered. We asked also about future of Windows Mobile at HTC but this event was very focused on Google Android, so obviously we didn’t go into detail about Windows Mobile too, but at least HTC’s 100% commitment to Windows Mobile has been confirmed:

HTC Hero press event full video

Well it’s taken a little while to process and upload but this is the video I recorded of the HTC Hero launch event yesterday. I apologise for the people sitting in front of me, I did my best to film around them but I’m sure you’ll enjoy the content all the same.

It’s a rather long video, over 30 minutes, so you might want to make yourself comfortable and grab a cup of tea before pressing the play button.

HTC Hero press event video

I only managed to play with the HTC Hero briefly yesterday but I have to say that I was pretty impressed. I like how deep the new HTC Sense UI goes in to Android and the screen is impressively responsive. The case is made from Teflon which gives it a nice smooth feel and helps to resist dirt and scratches. There’s also a special coating on the screen that’s designed to resist fingerprints so that, in the words of the Chief Innovation Officer, Horace Luke, you spend less time polishing your phone and more time using it!

One thing we also noticed while at the event is that they had a number of demo handsets plugged in to large screens so that you could see the device being demo’d on the large screen. The demo devices had a cable plugged in to the ExtUSB connector on the bottom and the UI was displayed in real time on the large screen. This leads me to believe that the HTC Hero may in fact be TV-out capable. Although not mentioned in the spec it might mean that the device is theoretically capable? Thoughts anyone?

Today’s global diversity is represented by 235 countries (including small islands and independent territories), 235 flags, and 234 capitals. SPB Geo Game allows sifting through this wealth of geographic images and names, trains memory, and literally widens one’s horizons in a fun way

"Getting to know all the countries in the world with their capitals and flags is something a lot of us always wanted to do, but never had the time, – comments Vassili Philippov, SPB Software COO – "SPB Geo Game grants the opportunity to test ourselves and study the world’s diversity in a fun and relaxing manner, within the few spare moments we have," Vassili concludes. SPB Geo Game offers two separate game modes: Capitals and Flags. The ‘right answer’ and its location are shown on a 3D globe.
