Samsung Wave 2 Review

Wave2-mainThis is quite a rarity these days, a Samsung phone that doesn’t have the Galaxy brand name. The Samsung Wave 2 is the successor to the relatively popular Wave from last year. It has a few really nice improvements that are evident from the off, all of which you will discover as you progress through the review.

James reviewed the original Samsung Wave last year and it got a pretty good review, especially for a new OS. The Wave 2 has lost the AMOLED screen that its predecessor had I am afraid but I wont let dampen my thoughts.

So will the Wave 2 be a worthy entry into the mass smartphone market? Or will it just be another entry that gets left behind?

Read on to find out.

Samsung Wave 2 Unboxing Video

Samsung-Wave-II-S8530

The Wave 2 is Samsungs 2nd device to hit the market here in the UK running the Korean companies own operating system, Bada but now at version 1.2. I reviewed the original Wave and it got a pretty good review from me apart from my dislike of pricing when it came to Samsungs own app store. Have things improved at all?

The most obvious great feature with the original Wave was Samsungs Super AMOLED screen technology that frankly is amazing. This new version however has a Super LCD screen instead which we are eager compare with the original Wave. Most of the other specs are very similar when comparing the two devices. Lets have a look in the box and see if it has the WOW factor.

You can see the unboxing video below along with the Samsung Wave 2’s full specs and of course we will have a full review in the very near future.

Boxwave Keyboard Buddy iPhone 4 Case unboxing video

apple_iphone4_bluetooth_keyboard_case_main There are lots of Bluetooth keyboards out there that will work with the iPhone and literally thousands of iPhone cases, however, the Boxwave Keyboard Buddy is different in that it combines the two and turns the iPhone 4 in to a sliding QWERTY-keyboarded device.

The design is pretty neat, the front portion has a clip-on case similar to many other iPhone cases but then there’s the spring loaded sliding keyboard mechanism on the back. The keyboard works over Bluetooth and has it’s own battery and power control. It also has a claimed 45 day battery life which sounds awesome.

Of course, adding a keyboard to you iPhone will add some bulk and some weight but if you really want a physical keyboard I’m sure you will be willing to make the compromise.

Check out the short video below to see the Boxwave Keyboard Buddy iPhone 4 Case close up.

Surf’s Up – Samsung announce new wave of Waves

wave-723_2

Following news that the original Samsung Wave has sold 1 million handsets worldwide, the chaps from Seoul have seen fit to bless the world with a raft of new Bada-powered devices.  The device you see here is the catchy monikered Wave 743, looking part Tocco and part iPhone 4, and it and its new brethren will be running Bada’s latest revision, Bada 1.1.  Sadly though it seems that Super AMOLED is no longer riding the Wave, with the 743 sporting a 3.2" TFT screen (touch type undetermined), 5mp camera w/ LED flash, microSD slot and WiFi.  The new Wave, like its Galaxy S cousin is also packing Bluetooth 3.0 – the more the merrier.
