HTC’s first foray into the Android tablet market didn’t set the world on fire. The HTC Flyer and the Jetstream, which was not released here in the UK, were hugely overpriced for their specs. Because of this, HTC stayed out of the tablet market for a while. However, now it seems that they are planning to attempt a return. A new device has appeared in Nenamark2 and Antutu benchmarks, called the HTC Vertex. Here’s the known specs at this time,
-
10.1" display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels
-
Quad-core Tegra 3 processor
-
2MP rear / 1.3MP FF cameras
-
Bluetooth
-
Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (although this might change if the device is released late enough)
Ultimately, the success of this device will be in how aggressively it is priced. There are a ridiculous amount of Android tablets saturating the market right now, with the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire at the top of the heap. HTC has a large hill to climb to be competitive. In fact, since this was a leak, it’s entirely possible that this is a scrapped project considering their current financial situation.

When it comes to all things iPhone there’s never a shortage of rumours or alleged ‘leaks’ of information but ever since the widespread disappointment that was the iPhone 4S the internet seems to have exploded with iPhone 5 photos and claims from all manor of sources claiming to have the scoop on Apple’s next super phone.
However, a couple of new photos have come along which look to be about the most plausible images we’ve seen so far.
Have a look at these photos (Via Stuff) and they appear to show a larger device with a wider screen whilst retaining all of the existing design queues.
Make your own mind up but time will tell if this really is the new iPhone 5! 馃檪

The below video cropped up on YouTube last night. It hasn’t been published RIM themselves so I can’t confirm its validity but either way it is jolly funny. The video focuses on using the BlackBerry Tag feature which allows users to share information using NFC. Should RIM go down the comedy route with marketing?

The prospect of super-fast broad band is so tantalising but if, like me, you are stuck with a slow broadband connection you may want to look away now.
Sky have just announced that they are to make up to 76Mbps broadband is available to new and existing Sky customers. However, you’ll have to live in an area covered by the fibre optic network (which I’m not grr)
The satellite broadcaster launched the product in April, but it was initially available only to new subscribers who did not already have Sky Fibre or Sky Broadband.
However, the company has now revealed that everyone can sign up for its fastest connection. "All our broadband products are open to all customers covered by Sky’s network," a Sky spokeswoman told ZDNet UK.
The up to 76Mbps proposition hit the market at the same time as Sky’s up to 38Mbps product, with both of these packages supported by BT’s fibre-to-the-cabinet infrastructure.
More than ten million homes and businesses across the UK are currently served by BT’s fibre broadband networks.
The telecoms giant is aiming to increase this coverage to two-thirds of properties by the end of 2014 under its 拢2.5 billion national rollout.

There’s no shortage of power and charging solutions out there for mobile devices, indeed we have looked at several of these in the past including those from PowerMat as well as lesser known small companies.
This time I’m taking a look at the PowerBrick from the Italian based company Feligan.
The PowerBrick system has space for up to 6 different charging ‘blocks’ boasting compatibility with Apple, Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Kindle, LG, Motorola… the list goes on. When you buy the PowerBrick you get to choose the 6 power connectors that you would like to to be configured with.
It doesn’t just stop with the 6 connectors though. On the front of the unit you’ll find an additional 2 USB sockets that allow you to plug in those bespoke-type power cables that come with some devices. And as if that isn’t enough there’s also two mains-power sockets to boot that you can use to plug in other power adapters. These also allow you to plug in adapters from other countries, accepting UK, European, US and Australian style plugs to name a few.
In the video below you can see a quick unbox of the one I ordered.
