Malware – iPhone users please read!

bit

BitDefender identifies fake “iPhone unlocking” malware mechanism

BitDefender has identified a malware-spreading mechanism targeting people wanting to unlock their iPhones.

Users receive an e-mail offering a link that promises a new version of an iPhone unlocking application to overcome vendor set network restrictions. People clicking the link are then directed to a web page which provides instructions to be followed in order to download the unlocking application.

After being urged to connect their iPhone to a computer, users are then instructed to download the “new modified” application and run it on the iPhone. However, once downloaded and run, the executable file causes a Trojan virus to be infected in the computer.

iPhone OS 4.0 event video

iphone4 I’m sure that by now you wont have been able to miss the fact that Apple announced iPhone OS 4.0 earlier this week.

I know that critics will argue that many of the features introduced are long overdue and I wouldn’t argue with that. However, I’ve been using the Beta version of it since yesterday and have to say that I am very impressed with what Apple have introduced. Multitasking works flawlessly and the multiple exchange email support, consolidated inbox view, multiple calendars etc. all feel like they were designed just for me! 🙂

If you didn’t see the presentation in person (few people did!) or didn’t see Engadgets fantastic coverage then you might want to take a look at the video presentation (links below) of the whole event.

TimescapeT Ambassador Poppy Delevingne provided insight into how the X10 complements her everyday life by integrating all her social networks and digital interactions into a single device. You can view a demo of Timescape using Facebook connect on the X10 product page.

London Wasps and England Fly Half and now Mediascape Ambassador Danny Cipriani uses his X10 on his travels to catch up on his favorite films and listen to music. He uses Mediascape regularly to discover new associated content by pressing the infinite key to pull in information from the internet.

There are 100 new or enhanced features in the updated OS, not surprisingly not all 100 were listed during the press conference but there were 7 key features or ‘tentpole features’ as they were called.

  1. Multitasking
  2. Folder
  3. Enhanced Email
  4. iBooks for iPhone

  6. Game center
  7. iADs

So what are these features all about?

HTC Desire on Orange

Desire B

All of the major UK carriers are rolling out the HTC Desire and I have just spoken with our ‘Orange man’ who has confirmed that the HTC Desire has been heading out to their UK stores over the past few days. It will also appear on the orange website later today or tomorrow.

Initially they will stock the brown version but towards the end of April they will have exclusively the nice black version.

The question is can you wait for the black or do you need one now!

Keep an eye on orange.co.uk over the next 24 hours for more details and price plans.

HTC Desire delayed again!

Desire DW

Oh no, its happened again! Clove have just released the following statement. Not good news.

Having only sent all our customers an email yesterday we have now been informed by HTC this morning that they are delaying shipments to all SIM-Free E-tailers until next week. This is very frustrating for both you and ourselves, having made so much effort in trying to ensure you receive your Desire as early as possible. The actual shipping date is yet to be confirmed, although HTC expect to start releasing stock on 13 April.

Please be aware this is completely out of our control and will affect all other E-Tailers as well. We will continue to update you with as much information as we can.

We will not be refunding any orders that have already been charged unless requested – this will simply cause further delays next week.

Please accept my personal apologies for this further delay, we only wish we could give you better news. Hopefully you will appreciate we continue to offer the best customer service we can and keep you informed as best we can, even when the news it not what any of us wishes to hear.

We will update you all as soon as we get further news.
