The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the first of five new Sony Ericsson devices that will be available here in the UK over the coming month or so. To follow we have the Vivaz Pro, X10, X10 Mini and X10 Pro.
Not being a huge fan of the Symbian OS, the Vivaz brings a new lease of life to it as Sony Ericsson have created there own overlay to sit on top of the traditional one. This was one of the reasons I chose to review the device. Although I’m not a massive follower of Symbian we at tracyandmatt believe in giving all handsets a fair and unbiased review and that’s what the Vivaz will get. The other reason I wanted to get my hands on it was the fact that it records video in HD as well as having a 8.1mp camera.
Will the camera be as good as I think it will and has the new overlay disguised the OS enough? Only one way to find out and that’s to read on.
We posted some pictures a while ago of the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and today we are lucky enough to find some more. The guys at Blackberrysync.com have managed to get some nice new shots of the device and I must say its looking pretty nice.
We don’t know a tonne about the 9100 although it will have 3G unlike its predecessor, the Pearl 8100. At Mobile World Congress RIM were reluctant to discuss the 9100. I did mention it and they pretended to not know what I was talking about. They knew alright!
Earlier this month there were some rumours going around on various sites saying that the BlackBerry 9100 may get a full QWERTY keyboard. Looks like that one is not on the cards. The keys would have to be seriously small if that was the case.
We do not have any expected release dates or carrier news on the 9100 but as soon as we do we will let you know.
OS 6 for BlackBerry has been on the cards for sometime and this morning BlackBerryLeaks have posted a few pictures of what is allegedly the new OS.
The cheeky chap at BlackBerry Leaks has teased us overnight here in the UK. Before I went to bed he tweeted that he had something big to show us. I decided I couldn’t stay up and wait and when I got up this morning he himself had not got home from work and so I was up in time.
What he has posted are the below images.
If you own the HTC Touch Diamond2 then head over to the HTC website as it’s ROM upgrade time.
The new Diamond ROM apparently contains Sense 2.5 which in my opinion is a huge bonus. Not having a Diamnond2 I’m not able to check it out so please use the forum to let us know your thoughts.
Also available is an update for the HTC Touch Pro2 although I don’t think this one includes Sense. I’m off to give that one a try right now.
You can download both by clicking here.
Remember to back up all your data and remove your microSD card as all information left on the device will be lost.

HTC have released the following statement in response to last weeks news that Apple are suing HTC for infringing on certain patents.
Seattle – March 17, 2010 – HTC Corporation today outlined its disagreement with Apple’s legal actions and reiterated its commitment to creating a portfolio of innovative smartphones that gives consumers a variety of choices. Founded in 1997 with a passion for innovation and a vision for how smartphones would change people’s lives, HTC has continually driven this vision by consistently introducing award-winning smartphones with U.S. mobile operators.
If you use a BlackBerry, and I know thousands of you do, you may want to join us over in our new BlackBerry Messenger group!
If you have not used the group feature in BBM then to cut a long story short its a place where anyone can jump into an ongoing chat. You don’t have to talk about BlackBerry. Anything goes but please keep it clean!
To join the group just open BBM on your BlackBerry and select ‘Scan a group barcode’ and point your camera at the barcode on this page. Simple Pimple!
Matt has even taken the plunge and is this week carrying a BlackBerry Bold 9700 as well as his iPhone! Will he keep it? He is warming to the idea!
See you over in the group if you fancy it. Otherwise you can add Matt by his PIN, 21619458, and he’ll throw you a group invitation.

No, I am not joking. Yesterday at MIX 10 in a Q&A session Microsoft said that clipboard operations would not be supported in ‘7’.
Further to that, the guys at Engadget confirmed this with Microsoft and they said that copy & paste would definitely not be present.
There is a data-detection service built into the text-handling API that will recognize phone numbers and addresses, but Microsoft says most users, including Office users, don’t really need clipboard functionality.
I have never heard anything so stupid in all my life. I have used Windows Mobile for years, and now a BlackBerry, and I use copy/paste every single day. Not having this feature will affect a lot of professional people in my opinion. I know the iPhone didn’t have this originally but it also was one of the main things that iPhone customers wanted on there phones.
What’s next? A Smartphone that doesn’t make phone calls?!

It wasn’t long ago that I posted saying that the HTC Tattoo would be eligible for an Android update.
Well, I am sorry to say it’s not going to happen!
When we originally heard the news I presumed I must have emailed HTC to confirm what we had seen on other sites and I have just had a response and it said what I didn’t want to hear.
“Currently there are no plans to update the HTC Tattoo with éclair.”
So there you go. Whether we will see them change there minds in the future nobody knows. Fingers crossed.

It’s not only mobile stuff that Microsoft have been talking about at MIX 10.
Today saw Microsoft release an early “platform preview” version of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) which I’m sure all of you will use at some point, baring in mind if you are reading this I’m pretty sure you have a computer, even if you are on your mobile right now.
New devices are something that we all are interested to see when it comes to Windows Phone 7 Series.
We have seen so far a prototype, an LG Slider and now a new shiny Samsung slate. While doing a ‘7’ demo at MIX Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore produced the Samsung, which has not been seen before. Although the specs has not been announced just yet it will have to meet the minimum specs so will have at least a 256MB of RAM and 8GB of flash and those all important three keys. I would imagine we will hear more about this device over the coming days. It sure looks sweet though with its Super AMOLED screen and shiny chrome outer edge.
Microsoft also confirmed that the HTC HD2 would not be eligible for an upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series. We already knew this from our two interviews with Microsoft, but once again they have said it is due to the HD2 not having those special three buttons. I feel for you guys that bought the HTC HD2 thinking it would be eligible but its not going to happen. It will be interesting to see exactly how the new ‘7’ devices compare spec wise. Maybe the HD2 isn’t up to the job?
