An Android Virus!

Sick Android!

It would appear that that some cheeky monkey has created an Android app that can steal cash!

The program poses as a media player but once installed starts sending premium rate text messages. The service being sent messages is operated by the malicious app’s creator, who scoops up the fees. Discovered by Kaspersky Labs, it is believed to be the first booby-trapped application for Android. In a security advisory Kaspersky said that the fake media player was most prevalent among Russian Android users. The risk to Android owners worldwide is believed to be low.

Rather a concern though.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager gets updated

bbdesktop-1

If you currently use the BlackBerry desktop manager for backing up your device etc you may want to download the updated version which will be compatible with BlackBerry 6, version 6.0.

At present the update is only for PC so if you are a Mac user you are going to have to wait.

As with previous versions of BlackBerry Desktop Software, you can manage applications to install BlackBerry Device Software-optional applications to your BlackBerry smartphone (like support for new languages), or remove any third-party apps you may not want to use anymore. Removing or adding an app is just a matter of clicking on the ‘+’ or ‘X’ buttons in the action column, and the Application Summary screen will be updated to reflect what will happen after you select ‘Apply’ for the changes.

Integrated BlackBerry® Media Sync is new in version 6.0. Here are some of the main features:

We still have nothing official from HTC regarding this device but it is definitely coming, that I can confirm.

See the video after the break.

Is this the first HTC Windows Phone 7?

Schuberthtc

With Windows Phone 7 launching in the next few months a sighting has been made of what is believed to be HTCs first offering into the ‘7’ camp.

Allegedly called the HTC Schubert (What a funny name!) this device is said to be available from day one when ‘7’ hits the streets. Like the HTC Legend this one is said to be made from a single piece of aluminum which if true should set it apart from its rivals.

You can see the video below, compliments of Solo Palmari, and check out the back of the phone. It looks real sweet.

Notifications on the BlackBerry Torch – video

BlackBerry-6-OS

As you will see in the video, notifications are shown at the top of the BlackBerry Torch screen. Giving them a touch launches a brand new way of viewing them. Now all notifications are shown full screen in a list. By tapping any one of them, whether they be a message, calendar event, Twitter or Facebook notification you are taken into that particular application.

A great new way to manage your notifications quickly and efficiently.
