The police pursuit at BlackBerry World 2012 – Video

IMG-20120502-00106

The following text is serious but not nearly as serious as the high (I mean low) speed pursuit that took place at BlackBerry World 2012 between the QNX Porsche 911 and the Dodge Charger Police Enforcer. You must watch this video. It’s a classic!

In anticipation of the the unveiling of RIM’s new QNX-based BlackBerry 10 Operating System, there was a high intensity buzz at this year’s ‘Everything BlackBerry’ show in Orlando, where 5,000 developers, software and hardware vendors, and wireless carrier reps came together to see what the host company had to offer.
Speaking for the first time as CEO at the show, was Thorsten Heins, who told the audience at a packed news conference, that “We’re here to win. We’re not here to just be in the game.” Heins and many other BlackBerry keynote speakers focused attention on BlackBerry 10 – a QNX based operating system that is so much more than just a smartphone OS. BlackBerry 10 is a whole new mobile computing platform that not only drives the BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 tablet, but is also the OS for everything from medical devices to nuclear reactors; from commercial airliners to most of the cars found on North America’s roads.

BlackBerry Curve 9320 UK Carrier Prices

BlackBerry Curve 9320_Black_ENGuk_FrontWith the BlackBerry Curve 9320 launching imminently I thought it may be a good idea to let you have all the carrier prices that have been sent to me in one convenient place. There are not massive differences but some offers are certainly a little more attractive. The other thing to remember if you are picking up the new Curve is to not just go with the cheapest deal but to check you have good network coverage at home/work or school.

I have been hands on with the new device today and I can honestly say it is a massive improvement over the 8520/9300 that have done so well here in the UK. There should be no reason why our teenagers should not stay Team BlackBerry.

The BlackBerrey Curve 9320 is a beauty!

T-Mobile UK  will have the 9320 available free from £15.50 per month on a 24 month plan, or for £149.99 on pay as you go.

Carphone Warehouse will have the handset from free on £20.50 per month contract and SIM free from £129.95 in black.

Orange UK is pleased to announce that it will shortly be offering the BlackBerry 9320 free from £10.50 per month on a 24 month plan, or for £139.99 on pay as you go.

Three are charging a respectable £139.99 on PAYG. All in One 15 costs £15 and gives 30-day access to all-you-can-eat data along with 300 any-network minutes and 3,000 texts. Or All in One 25 costs £25 and offers 500 minutes, 3,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data for a 30-day period.

Vodafone are still to confirm prices at this stage I’m afraid but this post will be updated as soon as they let me know their plan of action.

BlackBerry Curve 9320 goes official

Screen Shot 2012-05-08 at 21.51.46
Over on the BlackBerry Blog they are officially introducing us to the new Curve 9320. If you are interested in a low cost but wonderful new BlackBerry you may want to check back here tomorrow. Wink, wink!
The following text comes from Donny who is the new Blog manager over at RIM.
Style meets practicality

The first thing I noticed was just how well the BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone fit in my hand, and how good it looks at the same time. If you’re someone who’s really into messaging and social networking this BlackBerry smartphone is a wise choice. You get the best in class QWERTY keyboard for easy typing, a dedicated button for BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM) – !!! – and it’s available in multiple colors so you can express your personal style. (Note: Please check with your carrier for color availability.)

Next Generation BlackBerry 7.1 OS

After you turn the BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone on and start it up, you’ll notice that it’s running BlackBerry® 7.1 OS. It gives you a smooth and fast BlackBerry smartphone experience, which I noticed most while I was browsing the web. The new OS adds features like Mobile Hotspot (Wi-Fi® sharing), which allows you to connect up to five additional devices. It also has FM radio so you can tune into your favorite local radio stations.

Peace of mind at your fingertips with Parental Controls

For you parents out there considering the purchase of a smartphone to stay in touch, rest assured that your child or teen can safely use their BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone to have fun while giving you peace of minds thanks to new parental controls. With Parental Controls, you have the ability to limit or restrict certain phone numbers, websites, and various social networking apps.

Well, there you have it: three things you should know about the BlackBerry Curve 9320. It’s designed to make messaging and accessing social networks incredibly easy, it’s running the latest BlackBerry OS, and it features handy parental controls for peace of mind. I think this may just be one of the best BlackBerry Curve smartphones for someone who is considering their first smartphone.

Contact Monkey – Share your details with one click

CM logo clr

Vcards have been around for some time now but it has never been a thing I have personally found an attraction. That was until I discovered Contact Monkey which isn’t a vcard but more of a one click contact solution.

I can’t stand getting an email from a new contact and having to cut and paste all their details into whichever device I am using. Contact Monkey does away with that palaver.

To cut a long story short when you sign up for Contact Monkey you will be given a unique username which you can add to your emails as a kind of signature. When someone clicks the link they will be redirected to your Contact Monkey page where they will see as much information about you as you wish to share such as standard contact info as well as social media links.
