HTC Event Scheduled September 15th

This morning HTC has sent out some mysterious invites to an event in September taking place in London. And with some image manipulation skills, people have managed to uncover something that looks very close to the leaked HTC Desire HD hiding in the invite. (see below). There have been videos and photos of this device and this could be the event it comes out of the smoke. However, there are some other theories that are saying that this device is the HTC Schubert, which runs Windows Phone 7. The Schubert is another device that we have seen photos and videos of, but I don’t think that we will see the Schubert on September 15th as Windows Phone 7 isn’t scheduled for launch until Christmas time. But I guess it won’t be long to wait before we find out.

HTC Press event

htc event

It’s that time again. The time when HTC invite us to come and see what delightful phones they have been working on. The event will take place on the 15th of September at an undisclosed location in London.

So, what could it be? Well, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out it will either be the next Android Device or the first HTC Windows Phone 7 device. Or it may even be both.

Either way we will be there to cover the news and get some hands on time with the device/devices.

Google Announces Chrome to Phone

At the Google mobile event, they announced Chrome to Phone. For those who are not familiar with Chrome to Phone, it lets you send information and links from your browser straight to your Android phone. To do this you need to get the Chrome to Phone browser extension for Chrome, and then you also need to download an Chrome to Phone Android app. Once you have done this, all you need to do is click one button and then it will send the current web page, map, YouTube video or phone number to your phone. However, Chrome to Phone will only work with Android phones that have Froyo. Video tutorial here.

Sony Bringing PSP Gaming to Android 3.0

The iPhone drastically beats Android into the ground when it comes to gaming. But that could be about to change, as Engadget claims to have received info from a “trusted source” that Sony Ericsson is developing a gaming device running on Android 3.0. Engadget says that the hardware is a cross between a Samsung Galaxy S and a PSP Go, with gaming controls and PSP buttons instead of a QWERTY keyboard. Other rumoured features include a 3.7″ or 4.1″ capacitive WVGA touchscreen, a 5 MP camera and a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. The device is going to be mainly black but the gamepad will be silver or white. Note that the image above is an Engadget mockup of what the device could look like.

Tweetdeck for Android Beta Released

Tweetdeck, the wildly popular social networking client, has just released a beta version of Tweetdeck for Android. Tweetdeck puts your Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook and Buzz feeds all into the same column with a very nice UI. To get the beta, go to http://www.tweetdeck.com/api/android_whitelist/ and sign in with your TweetDeck account, then they will send instructions for how to download Tweetdeck for Android. Remember, this is still a beta version and is not complete yet, so it may be still buggy.

Orange to supply first UK Windows Phone 7 Handset

wp7 It seems if you are one of those who wishes to dip your feet in Windows Phone 7 waters, Orange will be your first port of call.  HTC have announced they are shipping  an as yet undisclosed handset to AT&T in the US and Orange here in the UK.  It’s quite possible the undisclosed device will turn out to be HTC’s symphonically named Schubert handset, the so far only device to have surfaced running Redmond’s much hyped mobile OS.  Orange has traditionally been one of the main providers of Windows Mobile handsets, from the SPV branded HTC devices such as the SPV C500 to HTC’s own branded devices like the Touch Diamond and the HD2.  The Windows Phone 7 reboot of the aging OS however is not without its controversy and with iOS and especially Android, there is more than one player in the mobile OS game. Certainly, it will be one of the most interesting releases of the year – Q4 can’t come soon enough.

Rumour: Dell Thunder

Engadget has received some photos of what seems to be the unannounced and unreleased Dell Thunder. It seems to have Android 2.1 and a 4.1″ capacitive touch screen at 800×480, an 8 MP camera, 720p video recording and a 1400 mAh battery. However, no word on internal storage or processor speed but expect a 1GHz Snapdragon.

BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 unboxing video

BB9300

The BlackBerry Curve 3G has not changed too much compared to its predecessor, the 8520, but the big difference is the added bonus of 3G.

There are also a couple of physical changes. The 9300 now has a chrome bezel similar to the 9700 and its battery cover is also new. No longer smooth but now with a kind of mottled affect.

With the UK carriers yet to announce which if them will sell the 9300 we are still in the dark when it comes to pricing but in the meantime we will crack on with the review.

Check out the unboxing video below.

Nokia Sending Out Cryptic Messages, N8 Coming Soon?

Well it seems Nokia is going down the cryptic route, as they have been sending out messages to many bloggers around the world, including Matt Davis from tracyandmatt.co.uk. His message was in the personal messages section of the London Evening Standard. It simply said, “Hi Matt Davis, Big things come in small packages. The times is coming when all will be revealed.”

The other  bloggers who also received the cryptic messages are saying that they got a small package from Nokia, but are told to be quiet about what is inside. Many people are thinking that it has something to do with the new Nokia N8. But, I guess it is only a matter of time before we find out.
