Twittelator for iPad mini review

TwittelatorPro-logo-300x300

It is still early days for the Apple iPad but there are already some nice Twitter applications available and the one I have been using the most is Twittelator. Although I have been using TweetDeck on both my PC and iPod Touch up until recently I decided that it was time for a change when my iPad arrived. After speaking with one or two people that had already used Twittelator my mind was made up and I spent my $4.99 and downloaded.

Paying for a Twitter application is not something I have done before, but now I have the iPad I have become accustomed to forking out a little more money for decent apps. Of course the iPhone/iPod apps still work on the iPad in X2 mode but for the best quality you really need an iPad specific one.

Is Twittelator worth $4.99 and will I be sticking with this application? Read on to find out.

BlackBerry VM-605 Bluetooth Visor Review

bb visor

This is the second Bluetooth car kit that Orange have kindly sent me to play with and review. Although this particular one is made by RIM and sold as a BlackBerry car kit you do not have to have a BlackBerry to use it. It will work with all Bluetooth enabled phones.

I recently also reviewed the Parrot MiniKit Slim so lets see how this BlackBerry one compares.

Read on to see the verdict.

More Android Froyo rumours

android22

Word is that Froyo will be 450% faster than the current Android 2.1 system, and according to a source of TechCrunch who provided this screenshot, will also include native USB tethering as well as the ability to turn it into a mobile WiFi hotspot for sharing your mobile internet connection with other devices. Android 2.2 is also expected to come with full Flash support and will finally allow Android users to install apps on the memory card instead of just limiting them to the phone’s memory.

Motorola Motoroi to be upgraded in the UK

motoroi

News has surfaced about the Motoroi release here in the UK. Pocket-lint has apparently gotten confirmation from Motorola that this particular Android handset is indeed coming to the UK, and will come with better features than the Motorola XT701 that was launched in Taipei. Similar to the Motoroi for Korea, the UK-bound model will sport an 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, 720p video recording capabilities, but ups the ante with a faster processor, and Android 2.1 as its OS possibly with MotoBLUR.

No specific date was mentioned, but it is expected to be released within the next couple of months. The question at the back of our mind is, due to its delayed release, is anybody still interested in the Motoroi?

Parrot MiniKit Slim Bluetooth Visor Review

Minikit Slim

Those nice folks at Orange have kindly sent me a rather big selection of Bluetooth car kits to try out.  First on my list for testing was the Parrot MinKit Slim which as the name suggests is rather slim. I have used Parrot in car products before and actually owned the predecessor to the ‘Slim’ which was not as slim!

Is this new version any good. Well you will have to read on to find out.

Android to be 450% faster with Froyo

image_thumb91Androidpolice have done a little detective work regarding the brenchmark speeds of the soon to be released 2.2 upgrade of the Android operating System. Over at their site they have detailed analysis of how and why they believe the operating system will be running at a massive 450% faster than the current version.

Guess we’ll all know next week when 2.2 hits on Nexus Ones worldwide. I wait with baited breath.

Skype will be coming to Windows Phone

skype

There’s a lot of speculation that Skype won’t be going down the portable Microsoft route in the near future. First off the original quote was that they are “not developing software for the new Windows Mobile software due later this year.” However, have a look at the update on Engadget:

Update: Looks like this quote might’ve been taken out of context. MobileTechWorld followed up and learned that while Dan Neary left out Windows Mobile and Windows Phone from a list of currently supported platforms (which makes sense, since one is dying and the other isn’t out yet), he said Windows Phone 7 "is on the roadmap." The question seems to be more of a "when" than an "if" they’ll start building it.

Sounds a little more positive, it seemed massively silly for Skype to not push out something on a platform that is guaranteed to sell a few units.
