After a long break Andy sweeps back into the proceedings in tonight’s podcast. Archos launch 5 new Android tablets, the Dell Streak gets a 2.1 update briefly, Motorola get a bit of a bashing and Orange announce their new HD take on audio.
Microsoft have started their marketing campaign by showing a video advert at a one of cinema showing last week.
I’m not sure if we will see this same advert appearing on our TVs but as you will see below the phone displays the words ‘The Revolution is coming’.
Will we all be dumping our iPhones, Android and BlackBerry smartphones for a WM7 device? I wouldn’t have thought so, straight away at least, but you never know.
We will have some hands on time with Windows Phone 7 in the coming weeks so stay tuned for some video.
Project Sword is a forthcoming 3D game on the iOS platform and if you saw the Apple press conference this week you would have seen how amazing it is. Epic Citadel is a demo of the game and is in the app store right now. Available on the iPod, iPhone and iPad it sure gives a nice insight to the future of 3D gaming.
Check out the video below and if you fancy giving it a try head over to the app store and download it. It’s free.
The Motorola XT720 is the latest super phone from Motorola that packages a hefty 8mp camera capable of capturing HD Widescreen video. So what is it? Does it have the beans to take on the iPhone 4 or is it just a feature phone with an extra lump on the side?
Over the past few years we’ve reviewed a ton of HD camcorders here on tracyandmatt and it seems that every other model we receive claims to be, at the time, the worlds smallest, thinnest or lightest HD camcorder. So Toshiba are joining this party with their Camileo S20. Probably not not the thinnest or smallest camcorder on the market the S20 is still pretty slim and is certainly light, at 115 grams it’s about the same weight as your average mobile.
The limited size does came at a cost though, as the Camileo S20 does not have an optical zoom but instead a 4x digital. However the spec is still pretty good in every other respect with a 5mp sensor and capable of recording 1080p and 720p video and coming in at under £140 over at IT247.com
The full review is coming up over the next week or so but for now you can check out the unbox to see what it’s all about.
You may have seen earlier that Matt and myself were at the launch of the IDEOS from Huawei. The low cost Android device is the first to come pre loaded with Android 2.2 on it and a real step in the right direction for Huawei.
As you will see in the video the device is not the biggest but sits comfortably in the hand and is packed full of all the goodness you would expect from Froyo.
We played with the blue one but the IDEOS will be available in four different colours to suit your personality.
Check out the video below and please let us know what you think of the device over on our forum.
Orange today announces the biggest advance in voice calls in 20 years with the launch of its mobile High Definition (HD) Voice service, enabling businesses to benefit from the next era in mobile communications. Increased call clarity and the filtering out of background noise make important business conversations possible no matter where they are conducted. Call clarity has emerged as a necessity for many businesses. Recent research* from Orange has shown that 75% of business owners believe clear call quality to be the most important aspect of their mobile device; with 33% saying they routinely struggled to hold phone conversations due to the noisy environment they work in. With HD Voice, neither a noisy work environment or being out of the office are barriers to a successful call with customers, colleagues or suppliers.
As you’ll no doubt know by now, we’ve been playing with the new Nokia C6 and as part of the #NokiaBox challenge we’ve been asked to demonstrate just how fast we can tap out the message “the quick brown fox jumped over the NokiaBox”. My part of the challenge is to use the touchscreen and the numeric pad to tap out the message, EmKwan will be using the hardware QWERTY. Our times will be combined to set out entry.
This press release from Archos has just arrived showing the shape of things to come from Archos and it looks lovely. Frive Android tablet, from mini to max covering almost every desired desired size have been announced. Of late Archos have been hammering out budget mp3 players with a semi-attractive feature set but a fantastic price tag. This time around the feature set looks too good to be true especially when it comes to the, still, highly acceptable price tags. Read on for more:
