Storage Options IPCam unboxing video

Storage_Options_Night_and_Day_IP_Camera IP security cameras aren’t particularly new, I remember trying my first one out for a client about 15 years ago. They used to be extremely expensive even for the most basic models. They weren’t very good either.

However, a few weeks ago I started looking for internet or IP cameras to install here at home while I was on holiday so that I could keep an eye on the place and on the building work going on at my home while I was away. I was surprised to find this IPcam from storage options for around £60. When you consider what you get for the money; motorised pan and tilt functionality, wireless and wired network connectivity and both day and night modes, it sounded like a bargain. I bought one!

I’ve recorded a brief unboxing video for you below and have been using the camera for a few weeks now. It’s quite impressive. IQ is acceptable but only VGA resolution. I like being able to control everything from the web interface though so you can move the camera around as well as set up email alerts when it detects movement or upload images via FTP and thanks to the infra-red LEDs you can see in total darkness too.

Motorola Atrix Unboxing Video

motorola-atrix_1

Motorola say the Atrix is the worlds most powerful Smartphone. With new Android devices being released every month I am not sure how long the Atrix will stay at the top. In fact it may have lost top place already. That said its specs are pretty impressive.

With a dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, HD video recording and running Android 2.2 Froyo the Motorola Atrix really does pack a punch.

If you fancy picking up the Atrix you can do so from the Orange.

The Atrix has a nice selection of accessories that are available. We will be covering the Laptop dock in a separate video so in the meantime you can see the unboxing video below and be sure to watch out for the full review in the near future.

HTC Sensation Unboxing Video

htc sensation_left_2

HTC’s new flagship device is here at last. Announced in April the HTC Sensation takes over the top spot from the Desire HD which similarly had a 4.3 inch screen. The Sensation is running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread with the popular HTC Sense sitting on top. The specs on the phone are pretty impressive. Powered by a 1.2 GHz processor the HTC Sensation really is a powerhouse of a Smartphone. The SLCD screen is made of Gorilla glass for extra protection, we have 1080p HD video recording and also an 8 megapixel camera which if anything like the HTC Incredible S’s will perform beautifully.

Enough of my waffling. You can see the unboxing video below as well as the full specs and we of course will have a full review in the coming weeks.

Enjoy.

Unilever launches The Lynx Stream mobile app for iOS and Android

ios_1

Unilever, one of the world’s largest consumer goods companies, has created the first mobile app to capture the real-time social elements of Facebook, Twitter and mobile phone activity to produce a record of unforgettable nights out.

The Lynx Stream, developed for deodorant brand Lynx / AXE, collects every video, picture, text, tweet, check-in and status update a group of friends makes to produce an automatic Stream of the night and highlight video, which can be watched online and shared through social networks.

The mobile app, available to download for free from the iTunes Store and Android Market, has been created with the intention to drive brand loyalty and engagement by providing an essential social tool for young people.

The Lynx Stream will also act as a media channel in future brand and product campaigns where content can be published directly to Lynx followers.

Josh Dean, Lynx Global Brand Manager, comments:

“When we design Lynx products we ask ourselves how will it fit into young guys’ lives and how will it make them more confident and attractive in the mating game.  The Lynx Stream has been developed with the same thought process.  Our guys are living on their mobile phones so it makes sense to build an app that adds significant value to their lives by enabling them to capture unforgettable nights out.  And if Lynx is helping to facilitate great memories and is part of the memory then it stands to reason that people will save some affection for the brand itself.”

Secret Gingerbread hidden under Honeycomb

honeycomb-gingerbreadHere’s a bit of interesting news for you technophiles that like to monkey around with your tablets. Apparently, their is a "hidden feature" within Honeycomb that allows you to "activate" an experimental Gingerbread interface. This is done by simply changing the pixel density settings of your Honeycomb tablet from 160 dpi to 170 dpi, and voila, you can play with a Gingerbread look to your UI. Here’s a quote from Engadget explaining how the tweak works,

According to modder Graffix0214, all you need for making the jump is one simple tweak in a system file: assuming you already have root access, use your preferred method — Pocketables recommends the LCDDensity for Root app — to change the LCD density value to 170 or higher to emulate a smaller, denser display. After a reboot, you should then see some Gingerbread love as demoed by Graffix0214’s video after the break; and likewise, set the value to 160 or lower to roll back. It sure is nice to have an option, eh?

This seems pretty nifty. Be sure to share in the forums what you think of this if you "monkey around" with it. Here’s a video demo after the break:
