iUsers gives iPad multiple user profile support

ipad-iusers If you share you iPad with one or more other people then you’ll know that there is nothing more annoying than when they alter all of your user settings and move your icons.

There is a solution right around the corner though as iUsers creates multiple user profiles and adds a log in button to your iPad. It sets aside an area for each users preferences and app data so you each can have their own unique setup.

There is just one drawback though. In order to use iUsers you must have a jailbroken iPad and download the app through Cydia. Probably not ideal for the masses perhaps.

I’d love to see this released though the Apple App Store but I fear there is little hope of that, there is more chance that Apple will add the functionality natively than that.

If you want to see iUsers in action check out the video below.

HTC Gratia unboxing video

htc-gratia-white-m The HTC Gratia isn’t a new phone, it has actually been on sale for months. Hands up if you’ve seen one? I think this could be one of the most unnoticed phones out there at the moment. Announced fairly quietly back in November of last year the Gratia went on sale equally quietly, no big press events or even any announcements or press releases that I recall.

I have to say right now that I think it’s a real shame that the HTC Gratia hasn’t had more exposure. I actually think it’s a good little phone. You can think of it as being an Android version of the HTC HD mini that we reviewed back in April of last year. In fact one of the comments we made in the review is that the mini would have been better if it had Android rather than Windows Mobile 6.5.3. So some months later we got our wish!

The HTC Gratia is a premium, compact, entry-level Android smartphone. The CPU and RAM may now be less than we’ve come to expect from this end of the market but you cant fault the build quality of the HTC.

Full review coming up soon but for now I leave you with the unbox and demo below.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 hands on video

DSCF1472

Not many people have their hands on a BlackBerry Bold 9900 yet but we are lucky enough to now have one, we may in fact be the firs in the UK to have one in out possession. RIM’s new flagship device is due to launch worldwide in the very near future although the date is not certain as yet.

The 9900 is Research in Monitions first ‘Bold’ device to sport a capacitive touch screen and with it also being powered by a 1.2GHz processor (not the 1GHz I stupidly say in the video) this thing is a real beast. Running BlackBerry 7, the 9900 is the first of 7 BlackBerry smartphones to launch this year running this version of the OS.

With the 9900 being bigger than the last two Bolds it makes typing on its glorious keyboard even better.

We will have a full review coming soon but in the meantime you can check out our hands on video below:

LG Optimus 3D unboxing video

Optimus3D-main Last week I managed to get my hands on a pre-release version of the Optimus 3D but this week, thanks to Clove Technology, we’ve got the final retail version to unbox and review.

Having used the LG Optimus 3D for a few days last week I have been quite impressed with it not only the 3D features but also it’s ‘regular’ smartphone/Android features. It’s dual-core CPU runs at 1GHz and keeps everything running pretty smoothly.

Currently this is the first 3D phone on the market with the HTC EVO 3D just around the corner. With this being the first I suspect HTC are going to find it somewhat difficult to catch up.

Below you’ll find a simple unboxing video of the Optimus 3D. If you want to see it and some of the features in more detail then have a look at my Optimus 3D hands-on video from last week too.

Swype on Jailbroken iPhones

swype If you’ve been following the iOS jailbreak scene you’ll no doubt know that iOS 4.3.3 has now been jailbroken on the iPad, iPad 2 and iPhone 4! Now we can debate the legalities of the jailbreak and the reasons why you might want to do that with your phone but there is no denying that there are some really cool applications out there available through the unofficial sources that just wouldn’t be allowed in the app store.

One such example of this comes to light today where some clever soul, hacker Andrew Liu, has managed to port the popular Android keyboard alternative, Swype, to iOS.

Now I would absolutely love it if Apple would allow these alternative keyboards, especially on the iPad where there is plenty of room for an extra row of keys for the numbers.

For a demo of Swype in use on the iPhone, have a look at the video below.

Qos_F750_red_3D_Prod_Full_May11_01_scr

Want a 3D laptop but don’t want the hassle of wearing glasses? Toshiba now has the answer with the Qosmio F750 3D.

Toshiba UK today announces the launch of the Qosmio F750 3D – a revolutionary new laptop with the ability to display mesmerizing 3D images without the need for 3D glasses. The Qosmio F750 3D can also display a combination of 2D and 3D images on screen at the same time, while a range of powerful, high-performance multimedia features ensures the laptop is perfect for even the most demanding tasks.

3D unplugged
The Qosmio F750 3D is designed for those looking for the ultimate 3D experience.  Like the world’s first glasses-free 3D television – the Toshiba REGZA GL1 – the Qosmio F750 3D uses a special lenticular 3D screen to give users the freedom to experience all the benefits of 3D entertainment, without the restrictions of having to wear 3D glasses. Glasses-free 3D technology adds a truly immersive element, perfect for experiencing 3D in a more natural and comfortable way, particularly for those that may already require prescription glasses. The 39.6cm (15.6″) screen also offers Full HD resolution for clear, vivid images, while a 120Hz refresh rate eliminates blur or ghosting with the fast moving images seen in action films and games.

Neato XV-11 robotic vacuum unboxing video

neato-robotics-xv11 Ok, I know what many of you are thinking having looked at the title of the post but no I haven’t gone mad. As you know I love all things gadget but even I have to admit that when I got the email asking if I’d like to review a new vacuum cleaner I was a little hesitant but figured what the hell lets give it a whirl.

Now these robotic autonomous aren’t a new idea, they have been around for a while but this Neato XV-11 is one of the latest to appear. The XV-11 was previously only available in the USA but is about to go on sale here in the UK. I believe that it’s going to be the XV-15 in the UK though.

So what’s special about the XV-11 then? Well first of all it’s a very cool gadget. It has its own power dock that it returns to after cleaning your room/house and puts itself back in charge. Unlike other robotic cleaners the Neato has an array of laser sensors that it uses to create a map of walls, furniture and other obstacles once it knows the layout of the room it works out the most effective way to vac the whole of that area before moving on to another room.

I’ve tried the Neato XV-11 out a few times already and have to say I am impressed. I honestly thought it would get stuck in places or need help but it’s very effective in methodically cleaning the whole of the downstairs of our house, a process that takes it around an hour. As cleaning can be scheduled we’ve got it set up to make one pass every day. As a cleaner it’s very effective and does a great job and while it isn’t a complete replacement for a human driven vacuum cleaner it does help to keep human vac-ing to a minimum. However, if you want to hire a traditional cleaner in Blackpool, contact Diamond Home Support to assist you.

Samsung Galaxy Mini unboxing video

samsung-galaxy-mini-s5570-1 Samsung are really milking that Galaxy name and now we’re looking at another, the Samsung Galaxy Mini.

The Galaxy Mini is very much an entry level Android powered handset very much on par with the Vodafone 858 Smart or the Huawei IDEOS. The Mini is a decent looking little phone though and that’s one thing that helps to set it apart from the strong competition.

Spec-wise the Galaxy Mini is ‘ok’ with 3.1″ QVGA screen, 600MHz CPU and limited RAM it still does a decent enough job and seems to run quite smoothly considering.

The one we have was provided by 3 and will set you back just under £100 on PAYG, a good price but still a little more than the other handsets mentioned above but then you are getting Samsung build-quality. To see if it’s worth the extra few pounds you’ll have to sit tight for the review in a week or so. For now I’ve got a little unboxing video for you to get a taster of the Samsung Galaxy Mini in action.

LG Optimus 3D hands-on video

LG-Optimus-3D Earlier this week HTC announced their new 3D super phone, the EVO 3D. However, LG are somewhat ahead of HTC on this occasion as their LG Optimus 3D is just about to go on sale already.

Our friends over at Clove Technology have provided us with a pre-retail Optimus 3D to use for a few days so I thought I’d record something of a hands-on video for you to have a look at. I didn’t think it was right to call it an unboxing video this time as we’ve only got the handset!

The Optimus 3D is impressive with a dominant 4.3" 480×800 pixel display complete with 3D technology. The 1GHz dual-core CPU seems to be doing a great job if the benchmark score is anything to go by and this in spite of only 512MB of RAM.

As with other 3D devices the nature of the 3D technology means that the 3D effect only works with the screen in the landscape orientation so, although there is a 3D user interface, the use of 3D is limited more to media and games but the dual 5 mega-pixel cameras allow you to capture video in 3D at 720p or stereoscopic stills too.

Check out the video below to see a bit more of the LG Optimus 3D in action. Sadly we cant really show you the 3D elements too well but there’s plenty of other things to look at!
