We have covered UK Police Forces using the BlackBerry solution a couple of times before here on tracyandmatt, however RIM have released a new video on their YouTube channel this time featuring Thames Valley Police.
As you will see in the video after the break, Thames Valley Police are reaping the rewards of using BlackBerry Smartphones. With officers carrying the devices it allows them to spend more time on the streets and less time in the Police Station. With us, the public, paying for our Police the more time they are visible the better and statistics prove this presence alone deters/prevents crime.
Deploying BlackBerry is about enabling our front-line officers to police smarter, not harder. Being able to access police computer systems via BlackBerry smartphones means less time spent travelling between stations. Officers no longer need to go back to the station every time they need to access information from a computer, or pick up briefing information for a shift. Officers will also be better informed with up-to-the-minute information which will significantly improve their service to local communities’ said Keith Gough, mobile information project manager at Thames Valley Police.

Many of you will know that I am currently sunning myself with the family in Orlando, Florida. I decided to bring my HTC Evo 3D with me as I thought that pictures and video of us all enjoying the attractions would be fun. However, as good as the Evo is, when you take those 3D photos and try to either print them or convert them to 2D for review on a PC or a Mac they are a bit lacking, mainly because the photos are not captured at the full 5 megapixels that the cameras are capable of but instead uses only 2 megapixels. You may well ask why there are two 5mp sensors then but that’s a topic for another time!
So enjoying the idea of the 3D photos and video I decided to see what other options there were out there and stumbled across the Fujifilm Finepix W3 digital camera. This one seemed to tick all the boxes, has dual 10 megapixel sensors and takes full 10 mp 3D photos as well as taking 720P 3D movies. Furthermore the W3 has a 3.5″ 3D LCD screen and 3x optical zoom. The price isn’t too bad either so I ordered one for delivery here and decided to unbox from the comfort of my hotel.
Below you’ll find a short unboxing video and I’ll have a full review for you once I get back from my travels.
It seems we have been waiting for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for ages. With a market that is now saturated with Tablets can the Galaxy 10.1 get a slice of the Apple pie?
I am not a huge Android fan but my first impressions of the Tab are really positive. It feels great, is lightweight and Android Honeycomb seems much better than when I reviewed the Motorola XOOM some time back.
This particular model has been sent to us by Vodafone who have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in stock if you fancy picking one up. I shall be shipping this one of to Gareth who will do the full review over the next couple of weeks. He is the perfect man for the job as he uses the original Tab on a daily basis. Can he handle this new bigger version?
In the meantime you can see the unboxing video below:
Phones 4U have produced some great, and also annoying TV adverts in recent years. The new advert has a slightly different concept to previous attempts and I am hoping it wont be shown at a time when children can see it. Titled ‘Missing Our Deals Will Haunt You’ they have a ghost promoting special deals. Bizarre!
You can see the video below, if you dare!
I’m sure you saw me post last week where I told you about the BlackBerry party I attended in Central London. You know, the one where Jessie J performed.
As a BlackBerry fan Jessie was happy to talk to the guys at RIM on video and detail why she loves her BlackBerry so much.
With the party celebrating the launch of BBM Music as well as the new BlackBerry 7 devices Jessie tells us what her favorite apps are as well as who she would listen to on BBM music.

There is some industry speculation that Google may be planning to take on the role of wireless carrier in parts of Europe soon. In fact, they may have already started testing a Mobile Virtual Network (MVN) in Spain. The images posted are of what appears to be a Google-branded SIM card and a Nexus S running on a network dubbed “Google_es”. According to the report, a few trusted engineers have started receiving this starter pack for testing purposes already. Here’s a quote with a few more details,
As I walked past my local Sony store today I noticed they had the S1 tablets in stock with a couple of demo models sitting proud at the front of the shop. Of course I darted in and had a quick play.
I’m not overly impressed with the design of the tablet. Although it feels quite nice in the hand it does also feel a little odd having a thick end and a thin end.
Performance wise it seemed very good. Certainly a lot quicker than the XOOM which is the only other Honeycomb tablet I have used.
How will it compete in the ever growing tablet market I wonder?
You can see the video below I shot. Not stunning quality but I was only equipped with my trusty BlackBerry at the time. It does alright though.
We announced the HTC Rhyme earlier this week. You remember, the one for the ladies. You are allowed to buy it if you are a man but you may not want to go for the Plumb coloured version?
Anyway, HTC have released a short video detailing the accessories that are available for the Rhyme. I was able to get hands on with these accessories earlier in the week and although not my cup of tea I think they will appeal to the ladies. The docking station is superb and I wish all phones had an official one as an optional extra.
The word on the street is that the HTC Rhyme will be hitting UK shores around October 8th sim free. Not long to wait if you are waiting to pick one up.
You can see the video below along with a quick description of the accessories available.
