Simpsons take a shot at Apple

image The Simpsons have taken a shot at Apple fanboys this week and it is really worth a watch even if you are an iPhone, iPod or Mac lover. I am not a huge Simpsons fan but this one had me laughing. They substitute Apple for Mapple and Steve Jobs for Steve Mobs we have the clips after the break. Check them out and see what I mean.

Sanyo Xacti HD1010 unboxed

We’ve been looking at lots of camcorders lately and, if you read our group test report, you’ll know that we were particularly impressed with the Sanyo Xacti HD700. The only criticism of the HD700 was that it isn’t full HD supporting 1280×720 only. For many, this wouldn’t be a big problem, especially when you consider the cost but we wondered what spending the extra cash on the HD1000 got us.

I’ve been using the HD1000 for a few months and I’m very happy with it. However just a few weeks ago Sanyo launched the HD1010. This has additional features over the HD1000, including both 60p and 60i modes as well as high speed 300fps mode and an uprated sensor.

Hackers get Linux on iPhone

image According to the blog.iphone-dev.org website, one of its members has reverse engineered Apple’s hardware drivers and managed to port a version of Linux to both the iPhone and iPod touch. So far, so good, but the downside is that this is really just the first step. There are no Linux drivers yet for the actual phone side of things, sound or Wi-Fi, nor does the touchscreen work yet. In other words, you’re not going to be able to do anything much with your Linux iPhone yet. However, if the comments on the community website are anything to go by, it can’t be long before those wrinkles are all ironed out and the hackers move on to the next project. Android, anyone? image HighAndes have released a new version of their software, trakAxMobile. Available for Windows Mobile QVGA and VGA devices, trakAxMobile is a groundbreaking software package for mobile devices that enables users to transform captured and downloaded media (video, audio, or images) into polished and sophisticated productions. It allows users to put mobile video clips and photos into a context; combining credits and text overlay, transitions, photo and video effects, cropping tools, boarders and themes, soundtracks and narrations – so now their mobile mixes will look as good and be as interesting as PC productions.

The PomeGranaTe Phone

image Yeah, so it a new phone and it does everything you’d expect and more. Check it out after the break in video in all it’s glory. I don’t think naming your phone after a fruit will gain you as much success as Apple’s iPhone, but that won’t stop people from trying.

Nokia N96 unboxed

When the Nokia N95 came out more than 18 months ago it was pretty much an over night success. It was also one of the first devices that I recorded an unboxing video of.

Since then there have been a couple of versions of the N95 and then a few months ago Nokia announced the updated N96. It’s taken a little while to get my hands on one but finally managed to get my hands on one earlier this week.

HTC Touch HD vs Xperia X1, Diamond & Pro

We posted our review of the HTC Touch HD about a week ago. Since then many of you have sent us questions and although we’ve ben covering them through the comments on the review post there are some questions that we thought we’d answer through the video below.

The other question I’ve been asked a lot lately is ‘which device should I buy?’ This is a very difficult question to answer, the device that’s right for you depends on so many factors so I’ve also attempted to cover some of this in the video.

Blackberry Storm lag issues

image Since the launch of the Blackberry Storm there has been a lot stories floating around about a laggy OS amongst other things. Some reports suggest that the firmware was downgraded at the last minute to overcome these problems, seems strange that these problems are only mentioned on the US Verizon version not the Vodafone UK version. Mobility Today think very highly of the device and have produced a video showing the OS in action where you can make your own mind up if it is laggy or not, personally after watching it, it doesn’t seem too bad. See for yourself after the break.
