Samsung announce the Galaxy Tab 10.1

The first few hours at MWC 2011 have been pretty busy with announcements already from SE and now Samsung are at the bat with their rumoured Tab 2. News just in, the new Galaxy Tab will be called the Tab 10.1, so named after the 10.1″ display.

ZTE to Launch Cloud-based iMarket at MWC 2011

ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced it will launch its cloud-based applications store iMarket to global operators at the telecoms industry’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.

As content and applications (apps) continue to grow in importance for mobile device users, ZTE developed the iMarket with the aim of establishing a strong position as a provider of operator services and devices, as well as to offer operators a converged trading and services platform that can become a core part of their business. Operators can in turn give their customers access to a vast range of applications and content such as videos, games, animations and books. The ZTE iMarket will run on traditional terminals, such as handsets and PCs, and also on tablets (quadruple screens).

Sony introduces new Cyber-shot cameras and accessories

HX100V_lowresSony have pushed out three new cameras – the HX100V, HX9V and the W520, available from March to April 2011. Also on the cards are a line of new accessories, memory cards and an online private photo-sharing service dubbed ‘Personal Space’, accessible from Android and iOS smartphones as well as PCs.

The two HX series CyberShot cameras both feature 16.2MP sensors with a smattering of fancy features from full 1080p video capture at 50fps to built in GPS and compass (for location and shooting direction). Both have a 3 inch wide LCD displays, Carl Zeiss lenses and an interesting ‘Intelligent Sweep’ panorama mode for easy 10480×4096 res panoramic photos.

The Cyber-shot W520 is a new 14.1 megapixel compact with 5x optical zoom and a 25mm wide-angle lense. Like the two HX cameras, images can be taken with Sony’s Sweep Panorama and Intelligent Auto and viewed on the 2.7 inch LCD display.

Samsung Introduces LOVEFiLM streaming to all Blu-ray players

Samsung Electronics Co. UK Ltd, today announces the launch of the new LOVEFiLM application to all Samsung Blu-ray players.

The App, once activated with a LOVEFiLM subscription of £5.99 or above, will allow users to stream thousands of movies on their Blu-ray player via Samsung’s Internet@TV service. The huge choice of films available ranges from Hollywood blockbusters, to the latest Cannes Film Festival nominees and even critically acclaimed documentaries.

The news comes as Samsung Blu-ray players command the European market with outstanding technology and design. According to market research firm GfK, the Blu-ray player products of Samsung Electronics took a European market share of 25% in terms of sales and 24% in terms of units sold for the January-September period in Europe – topping the European market.
