Introducing the Sony Ericsson txt

Sony Ericsson today unveils Sony Ericsson txt, an entertaining messaging phone. A sister phone to Sony Ericsson’s recently announced Sony Ericsson txt pro, Sony Ericsson txt has a full view QWERTY keyboard and a SMS shortcut key. The phone also features a “friends” application that enables users to see Facebook and Twitter updates at a glance from their top five friends.

Sony Ericsson txt is Wi-Fi enabled and comes equipped with a 3.2mp camera with video recording. The phone feels comfortable in the hand with a rounded back.

Samsung launches ‘Smart View’ App to put Smart TV in the palm of your hand

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., the UK’s number one TV brand¹, today reveals the Samsung ‘Smart View’ app that enables users to share content between their Samsung Smart TVs and mobile devices.

Available for the Samsung Galaxy S II and at a later date for other Samsung Galaxy devices, the free ‘Smart View’ app means convergence between entertainment devices in the home is now a reality. The app works by displaying the content from the Samsung Smart TV on the mobile device’s screen over a home’s WiFi network, regardless of whether people are watching TV,  a movie from their Blu-ray player or even content from their camcorder or other devices.

With a 3″ screen and running the latest Android platform for smartphones (Gingerbread 2.3), the phone packs Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, a 5mp camera with HD video functionality, and a powerful 1Ghz processor. Xperia active is dust proof and water resistant* and uniquely incorporates wet finger tracking, to ensure the phone works perfectly when either the screen or a user’s fingers are wet.

Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity from Sony now available for Sony Ericsson Xperia Android smartphones

The “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” service is available for the following Xperia smartphones in the marketplace today; Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo,  Xperia X10 and  Xperia X8. Sony Ericsson today confirms that the service also will be available for Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro and Xperia pro later this year.

Storage Options launches the world’s first personalised tablet for the youth market

Research in Motion Reports First Quarter Fiscal 2012 Results

Research In Motion Limited (RIM) a world leader in the mobile communications market, today reported first quarter results for the three months ended May 28, 2011 (all figures in U.S. dollars and U.S. GAAP).

• Revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2012 grew 16% over the same quarter last year
• International revenue1 in Q1 grew 67% year over year
• Gross margin in the quarter was approximately 44%, slightly higher than expected due to product mix
• RIM launched the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet in North America and shipped approximately 500,000 units in the first quarter
