Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity from Sony now available for Sony Ericsson Xperia Android smartphones

The “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” service is available for the following Xperia smartphones in the marketplace today; Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo,  Xperia X10 and  Xperia X8. Sony Ericsson today confirms that the service also will be available for Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro and Xperia pro later this year.

“Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” is available as a downloadable client from Android market and appears as an icon on the screen of the phone. In addition, to provide an instant and seamless user experience, the “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity”, debuting on the Xperia neo, the consumer will be prompted to access the service via a dedicated icon on the phone screen.

The cloud-based, digital music service gives music lovers streaming access at anytime and anywhere to an ever expanding catalogue of currently over seven million licensed songs from major labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music as well as leading independent labels and major publishers worldwide.

 

Powering the back-end of the service are Omnifone and Gracenote.  Omnifone provided its award-winning platform services to develop and deliver the service across a range of device platforms as well as licensed the service with rights holders around the world to provide a global catalogue of over seven million tracks, while Gracenote’s music identification and discovery technologies and Global Media Database create a rich experience for subscribers, letting them enjoy their existing digital music collection and discover new artists and albums.

  • “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” Android client available for download for Xperia smartphone users in U.S., France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
  • On selected Xperia smartphones in select markets, the consumer will be prompted to access the service via a dedicated icon on the phone screen.
