3 MVNO Nutshell Mobile has gone live

125015 The MVNO was launched earlier this month and will focus on a number of disenfranchised segments in the market. It will use 20:20 Mobile for handset fulfilment.

The MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) wholesale contract with telecoms distributor Nutshell Mobile is a deal whereby Nutshell Mobile will offer an own-branded business mobile voice and data service using the 3 network.
Nutshell CEO Gordon Webber said: We have a number of different partners for different facets of the business. Everything is being run through an outbound call centre and we have a separate customer service centre.
The MVNO will also offer its services as a white-label product. At the time of the launch, 3 UK MVNO account manager Darren King said: We are delighted to have signed Nutshell Mobile to our growing MVNO client base.
3 UK has Britains biggest and best 3G network and because of that we are able to offer the MVNOs we work with a reliable and fast network that will help them grow and sustain their customer bases.

Vodafone Spain replacing 3000 infected MicroSD card in

Vodafone Spain replacing 3000 infected MicroSD card in

vodafone_htc_magic_april_uk It looks like the virus-strewn HTC Magic that was recently purchased from Vodafone UK is only the tip of the iceberg. According to Vodafone Spain, some 3,000 users in all may have been exposed to Mariposa malware — which used the handset’s storage to make its way to customer’s PCs via USB, leading the company to replace the microSD cards for infected customers. The company also says that the incident is "isolated and local," but with the number of infections rising from one in the UK to 3,000 in Spain in just over a week we wouldn’t be surprised this story was just heating up.

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and Pro release dates?

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and Pro release dates?

Xperia_X10_mini_pro_Open_Black I’m sure you will have seen our coverage of the new Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and Mini Pro both from MWC last month and also from the press event. Both of these little handsets look like being winners, they’ve certainly been attracting a lot of attention between them!

So you may be wondering when you might be able to go out and buy one of these mini Android marvels, and we’d love to know that too! Today we popped over to eXpansys.com and were presented with the X10 Mini on the home page. If you head over there now you’ll see that you can pre-order the X10 Mini for £299.99 or the Mini Pro for £339.99.

Personally for just £40 difference I’d be going for the Pro, at least then you have the option of whether or not to use the QWERTY keyboard.

Both handsets are now showing a shipping date of the 24th May though, still some way off and that firmly puts them in Q2. Seems that SE are experiencing some delays with their handsets lately, lets hope that’s not indicative of any issues!

Head over to eXpansys to learn more about pre-ordering.

BlackBerry OS 6 screen shots leaked

OS 6 for BlackBerry has been on the cards for sometime and this morning BlackBerryLeaks have posted a few pictures of what is allegedly the new OS.

The cheeky chap at BlackBerry Leaks has teased us overnight here in the UK. Before I went to bed he tweeted that he had something big to show us. I decided I couldn’t stay up and wait and when I got up this morning he himself had not got home from work and so I was up in time.

What he has posted are the below images.

Demo of the new HTC Touch Pro2 ROM

htc-touch-pro2 Hopefully you saw our post last night informing you of new ROMs for the HTC Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2. If not you can download each of the new HTC ROMs from HERE.

I have the HTC Touch Pro2 which I use as one of my everyday phones and as there are some rather nice changes in the latest ROM build I thought I would give you a quick video demo.

It would have been nice to get version 6.5.3 but unfortunately that’s not to be (yet anyway). However, what we do get is Sense UI like on the HTC HD2 and it’s a massive improvement.

Check out the video after the jump.

ROM Upgrade for HTC Touch Diamond2

ROM Upgrade for HTC Touch Diamond2

diamond2

If you own the HTC Touch Diamond2 then head over to the HTC website as it’s ROM upgrade time.

The new Diamond ROM apparently contains Sense 2.5 which in my opinion is a huge bonus. Not having a Diamnond2 I’m not able to check it out so please use the forum to let us know your thoughts.

Also available is an update for the HTC Touch Pro2 although I don’t think this one includes Sense. I’m off to give that one a try right now.

You can download both by clicking here.

Remember to back up all your data and remove your microSD card as all information left on the device will be lost.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz demo video

vivaz1 Since I was over at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month the Sony Ericsson hype died down a little bit but now it’s back! The Vivaz is the first of the five new devices that I saw previewed in Barcelona to actually be released.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a Symbian S60 powered device but Sony Ericsson have all but hidden the fact by adding their own custom user interface which completely overlays the OS.

Check out the video below where I give a brief tour of the device and some of its main features.

HTC will defend themselves against Apple

htc

HTC have released the following statement in response to last weeks news that Apple are suing HTC for infringing on certain patents.

Seattle – March 17, 2010 – HTC Corporation today outlined its disagreement with Apple’s legal actions and reiterated its commitment to creating a portfolio of innovative smartphones that gives consumers a variety of choices. Founded in 1997 with a passion for innovation and a vision for how smartphones would change people’s lives, HTC has continually driven this vision by consistently introducing award-winning smartphones with U.S. mobile operators.
