What is the iPad’s MicroSIM all about

Just to keep you from reusing something that you have already bought it seems that the MicroSIM that will be used in the iPad is physically different to the SIM card you have in your phone. Just in case you had any ideas of buying the 3G version with the intent of putting in a pre-existing SIM card you might have already been using. Whilst it seems a little home operating by snipping the top off your SIM card with some scissors to make it fit, it does render the SIM card harder to use with other devices again. There is still no guarantee that the SIM card will work post operation at the moment.

Official Mobile World Congress iPhone app released

The developer claims in description of this app, that it is an official app of Mobile World Congress 2010 but we have trouble believing him, because it is not mentioned on the official website of this magnificent event.

Windows Mobile 7 to be announced at MWC

A chance for Microsoft to steal a little lime light has been rumoured and now confirmed. Windows Mobile 7 will make an appearance in a couple of weeks according to CFO Peter Klein. Conveniently this time scale falls over the period of Mobile World Congress this year.

There has been growing speculation that there will be Zune integration or possibly two different operating systems altogether over the last few weeks however, its safe to say the our wait is almost over and we will be able to put to bed all the rumours by the middle of February.

A precursor of iBooks app for iPad – now available for free for limited time

Apart from iTunes store, app store (separate app in iPhone and iPod touch), with release of iPad, Apple is releasing 3rd store: iBooks store! Interesting an app for reading and buying eBooks – called “iBooks” – looks very similar to “Classics” app:

Foursquare for Windows phone now in Beta

The app is only available for touch screen Windows phones today. The .NET Compact Framework v3.5 is a pre-requisite for you to be able to run the application on the phone. You’d also need a phone that runs either Windows Mobile 6.1 or a Windows Mobile 6.5.

This is a beta. We definitely want to add features to expose the leaderboard, add new friends on the fly, and incorporate any new APIs that Foursquare may expose. There are also plans to submit this application to theWindows Marketplace for Mobile, and that will happen as soon as we hit v1 of the app and we’re confident that we’re beyond a beta.

Whilst the Archos 5 with Android’s firmware is still trying to find firm footing Archos have released some nice images for the Archos 7 version. Packing an extra webcam this Android based Internet tablet looks set to be even more attractively priced. After the break are some pictures and notice on the second one that there is a lovely looking £150 (inc VAT) price tag. Making this a device for every home to have.

HTC HD2 with Android almost here?

There have been so many rumours of an Android version of the HD2 since the HD” (or Leo’s) inception. Look like those rumours could be ringing true if the HTS Supersonic is anything to go by. HTC have a dynamite product on their hands with the HTC HD2 and sharing the form factor with Android will put smiles on many faces, especially mine. Here is what Unwired had to say:

Dual boot your phone

Sounds farfetched, the stuff of dreams and a good bricking in the post but Tiltmobility is reporting that there is an interesting development in the world of Android and Windows Mobile phones. That’s right, the client has been released and if your Windows Mobile has an Android version then you could theoretically run them both. the Touch Pro2 is a likely candidate. It was just hours ago that we mentioned that Yozgatg would be releasing a way to dual boot a device in Android and WM and it’s now live. The download is located here. In order to use this you need to have a device that has Android ported to it (a so called ‘XDAndroid’ port). So while he has released a loader for QVGA, VGA and WVGA you still need a port of Android (which is what we anticipated). As you know, the Touch Pro/Diamond port is pretty far along. The Touch Pro 2 port is moving along at pretty good speed but it isn’t as far as the Touch Pro is.
