iPhone cut and paste, nearly sorted

Thanks to a new, free, web-based service launched today, you can now cut and paste text snippets between Safari and Mail on your iPhone. With the launch of pastebud, a free service that doesn’t require you to download and install anything from the iTunes App Store or to jailbreak your iPhone, and it works on either the iPhone or the iPod Touch. The Registar have put together a full walkthrough of how to set it up which at first glance seems a little complex however once done they think using it becomes very straight forward. Exchange client and office suite coming to Android

DataViz have announced that they are working on bringing their popular Exchange Activesync client RoadSync and Documents to Go to the Android platform. They currently support Windows Mobile, Palm, Blackberry and Symbian and recently announced that they will bring Documents to Go for the iPhone too so they have plenty to keep them busy at the moment. Spb Survey 2008 results announced

Spb Software, a leading mobile software developer announces the results of fifth annual Spb Survey. This year, Spb Survey was held between 10th and 24th of November, and aimed to track changes in mobile device preferences and brand loyalty, smartphone and software use cases, user profiles and behavior.

Windows Mobile favoured by field workers

Windows Mobile will emerge as the leading mobile workforce platform in 2009, relegating BlackBerry to second place, according to new findings from mobile workforce management firm Cognito. The firm polled its customers, which include large utilities firms and public sector organisations, to find out the key trends in the industry. It found that the familiarity of Windows among blue collar workers, and its superior back office integration capabilities give it an advantage.

Palm issue invites to see new devices at CES

Engadget are reporting that Palm have issued invites to CES and you will see all that Palm New-ness. Well what could that mean, another new Windows Mobile device, the first Palm Nova device or maybe something completely different. Guess we will have to wait until early January to find out for sure but let’s hope its not the Roteo.

HTC Touch HD now available on O2

Ok it is not directly from O2 but you can now buy the HTC Touch HD with a subsidised price tag from mobiles.co.uk. They have them in-stock right now and have a some rather appealing prices. For example on an 18 month £35.00 per month contract you can get the phone for free and 5 months half price line rental making the total cost of the phone £542.00 but obviously you get 600 anytime minutes and unlimited texts so if you need a new contract it is a reasonable deal.

Google Maps Street View now on Windows Mobile and S60

Google have released Google Maps for mobile version 2.3 with Street View on Nokia S60 and Windows Mobile. Street View was previously released on Google Maps for Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone. Street View lets you access street level imagery to help orient yourself when looking for places, businesses, or getting directions. Say you’re going to meet with friends at an unfamiliar restaurant. Now you can search for it in Google Maps for mobile, click on “Street View”, and see what the place and surrounding area look like. Similarly, say you need to get to a shop in a part of town you don’t know. Find it using your phone, get directions to it, and see how to get there with full-screen panorama images of every step along the way. While Street View is not yet available everywhere, Google will continue rolling out support across other geographies in the coming months. Video after the break.

Meizu M8 starts shipping

We have covered the Meizu M8 here and on a podcast but here is an article I came across on The Phonereport. The most-awaited ‘iPhone clone’ of 2008 has began shipping. The Meizu M8 is available at US$478 with 8GB of internal memory, and dual band connectivity.

OperaFrontEnd 1.0 browser for Palm

This app adds itself to the Palm OS5 (Garnet) helper library as default handler for web URLs and makes it the default web browser across programs. It also allows copying URLs to the clipboard, allows access to the on-screen keyboard on smartphone devices using ‘Shift’+\’Menu’ and shares the same CreatorID as Blazer to even fool the dumbest apps.
