MWC Has a Different Agenda for Windows Mobile

Contrary to popular belief we have been informed that Windows Mobile 7, the much anticipated OS release for windows mobile, will not be on the agenda at MWC this year. This can only suggest that it has been delayed even further than we thought.

James will be attending this years MWC and I’m sure he will be keeping us up to date on the goings on and what IS on the agenda.

large1

The update will completely wipe your ROM so make sure you backup your data before taking the new UI accross and remember that you can view your contacts online with Android by visiting Google Contacts (sign into Google before visiting).

To download the new Sense UI for the HTC Magic simply pop on over to HTC’s website and ensure you have your data cable handy.

Samsung S560 Monte Leaked

My fingers are now starting to get sore with the amount of news I have typed up today, but gotta keep it coming while it’s there so here is the latest instalment of Samsung’s leaked handsets.

samsung-s5620-monte-04

The Samsung S5620 Monte looks to follow similar form as the original Galaxy handset yet this time it will have the samsung touchwiz OS rather than the Android OS. Other than a 3″ touch screen display ther is not a great deal we can tell you about this phone. We do know that it will host a number of “the usual” features like:

  • HSDPA
  • 3.5mm Headphone Jack
  • MicroSD Slot
  • 200 MB internal memory
  • GPS
  • WIFI
  • 3G

For now, here are some more pictures that should quench the knowledge thirst until the expected announcement at MWC.

Samsung Galaxy 2 Leaked

In a day that news seems to be flowing from pretty much every angle of the web we see pictures of Samsung’s much better follow up to the first android based device released by them of the same name.

galaxy2

It seems now though that you aint no one unless your Android device packs a bit of fire with the 1GHz snapdragon processor, and well guess what? The Galaxy 2 has one too, so that must make it someone (right?). Among the other specs we can expect it to run on Android 2.1, have a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 3.5mm headphone jack, 5 MP camera and 32GB of internal memory (nice!).

No details have been released as yet however it’s expected that the official word will be released at the MWC just some weeks from now (James can keep us all updated).

HTC HD2 Hiding Extra RAM

It seems like the HTC HD2 is a dark horse. Sitting in the back of the phone is an extra 128 MB of RAM that is completely unused.

How do you get this extra RAM then? Well not having one I haven’t tested it, but the guys over at XDA Developers have tested it and are more than willing to share how they done it too.

Tracy & Matt would like to point out that this will involve a ROM update and that backups of any data you have should be completed before undertaking an update like this. We would also like to say that we will not be held responsible for any “bricked” phones as a result of any modifications made to your handset and that modifications such as these may invalidate your warranty.

LG Pop Out Some New Colours

Following (or pre-dating, whichever is factually correct) the colour change of the Nokia X6 “Comes Without Music” it’s the turn of LG to change the colour of one if it’s popular handsets.

The LG GD510 POP is being released in the amazing amount of 5 different colour variants: Silver, Pink (Yes Pink), Brown (or Bronze as I cant make it out), Purple and Black.

At the moment there has been no confirmed release date or price for the GD510 Colours however I would fully expect that they will try getting them out the door in time for Valentines day to ensure maximum sales potential.

Dell Mini 5 Spotted

Q: If you were walking down the street and you happened to bump into Michael Dell  (Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Dell) what would you say to him?

A: Who know’s but a nice joke about him being one of the sales guys is a nice way to start off any conversation.

You may be wondering what in the hell I’m babbling about, well, one of TechCrunch’s roving reporters caught up with Michael on the street and well.

It should be interesting to see what comes of this but all I can tell you at the moment, that Michael didn’t want to is that the Dell Mini 5 is rumoured to feature a Snapdgragon 1 GHz CPU, 2 Micro SD slots, a 3G sim card slot and has a 1530mAh battery capacity.

If anyone can translate this next video then you should be able to tell us a lot more.

I’m not generally a fan of tablet devices but give me an android powered device with a 5MP camera and you might well convert me (do you hear that Dell? Give me.).

Toshiba Roadmap Leaks TG02 and TG03

A recent leak of the Toshiba 2009 / 2010 roadmap has revealed some very interesting information about two upcoming handsets by the name of TG02 and TG03.

Roadmap

Both handsets will be powered by a Snapdragon 1 Ghz CPU and aren’t a big improvement on the existing TG01. Strangely the TG01, TG02 and TG03 all have the same dimension of  129 x 70 x 9.9 mm, 4.1-inch 480 x 800 pixel screen.

TG02 specs TG03 specs

Unlike the TG01 the TG02 and TG03 are said to be running Windows Mobile 6.5 right out the box which may halt or even cease deployment of the TG01.

So what makes the handsets different from each other then? Well the TG02 will be splash resistant  and can be used with wet hands without the fear of getting damage. The camera is unchanged from the TG01 at 3.15 MP. The TG03 on the other hand will boast a 5 MP camera and has 5.1 audio channels support which is a big, big plus.

The roadmap also mentions  the Toshiba K01 and K02 handsets. Again both devices will be powered by WM 6.5, a 1 GHZ Snapdragon CPU, HSPA and have camera resolutions of 3.15 MP. The K01 is in QWERTY keyboard form with a 4.1-inch capacitive touch screen display, while the K02 is a clamshell with a 3.5" resistive display.

Dates for release are based on the roadmap seen above but who knows if they will slip or even be brought forward. The main thing here is knowing that Toshiba’s return to the handset market is on witch will feature fast processors, windows mobile and stylish handsets.

HTC Bravo Found Hiding In Poland

We have all seen leaked photo’s of what is said to be the Nexus One for the UK (HTC Bravo) but to date none of them look as good as the one spotted in someone’s hand in Poland.

htc-bravo-real
HTC Bravo?

The Bravo is rumoured to have the following specifications squeezed into a handset only 11.7mm in thickness:

  • 1GHz Snapdragon CPU
  • 3.7" AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with WVGA resolution (480 x 800)
  • 5MP camera
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • HSDPA
  • HSUPA

Originally the RAM was as 256MB then someone mentioned that it was 320MB, but in the end it might turn up to be even more (the Nexus One has 512MB RAM). The other features that differ from what we already know include the trackball being replaced by an optical trackpad and that it will run on Android 2.1.

There are two different rumours floating around for this handset at the moment. The first being that the handset should show up on T-Mobile UK by the end of January on a £35 per month contract (hardly likely since this is the 27th) and the second is that it will be released in Europe sometime in March.

Again as we learn more about this handset we will post it here.
