Nokia’s new flagship device , the N8 was top of my priorities list when I visited Nokia World. I tracked one down straight away and got a demonstration from a nice Nokia rep. The hardware is not amazing, apart from the camera that takes fantastic pictures, but what i wanted to see most of all was Symbian 3 running. Not having been a big Nokia fan in the past I must say i was very impressed with the N8. As you will see in the below video the UI has had a little revamp and the phone runs beautifully smoothly.
We have some more Nokia video to come over the next few days but in the meantime please enjoy this one.
I thought that the Nokia E7 would be a great place to demonstrate messaging on the updated Symbian platform. The device itself is bigger that the N8 (by half an inch on screen) but it does miss out on one or two feature although pretty minor ones.
At 176g in weight it is pretty hefty but with the added bonus of an excellent full QWERTY keyboard you would expect a bit more. Not having used messaging features on a Symbian phone much before I thought I had better get an expert to talk me through it.
What do you think? A worthy contender up against the sliding Android devices?
The New C6 from Nokia is the smallest and lowest specced of the devices launched today but that doesn’t mean it is not good. In fact I was surprised at how nice it actually was.
Sporting a 3.2 inch screen and running Symbian 3, it still has a 8mp camera and will record video in 720P HD. Not bad a for a little phone.
See it in action in the video below.
Today at Nokia World in London the company have officially announced three new smartphones all powered by their Symbian platform to join the already announced Nokia N8.
Here is the official word from Nokia:
Destined for only the USA at the moment, the Motorola Defy is one of those devices that are produced every so often to ‘Defy’ being broken. Yes, it is scratch proof, dust proof and water resistant.
Motorola, Inc. unveiled the Motorola DEFYT enhanced with MOTOBLURT on today’s 25th season premiere of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Slim and pocket-able, this smartphone powered by AndroidT, which is planned for exclusive U.S. availability to customers of T-Mobile USA, comes equipped with a 3.7-inch high-resolution and scratch-resistant touch screen display that provides edge-to-edge views of your favorite websites, photos and videos.
Today is the start of Nokia World being held in London. As well as the Nokia Development Summit on Wednesday the next two days will consist of keynotes from Nokia top smartphone executives, some product info and some hands on time with some new devices.
However Nokia Mobile Solutions leader Anssi Vanjoki has decided to resign which comes as a total surprise. Although he will work a six month notice this means we could see some changes in the future from Nokia.
This was the official statement:
The Samsung Galaxy Apollo i5801 is one of those devices that comes with pretty good specs and is extremely good value for money. At under £150 on PAYG you get Android 2.1 (upgradeable to 2.2), 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack just for starters.
Sold solely on Orange here in the UK you also get the added bonus of Orange maps to take care of your sat nav needs.
If you are looking for a pocketable, stylish, cost effective Android phone then this one could be right up your street.
Check out the unboxing video below and the review will be online in the next week or so.

T-Mobile USA have made an official announcement regarding the G2. The re-branded HTC device is now available for T-Mobile customers to pre order.
Here in the UK we have our own HTC press event next Wednesday (15th) in London. I wonder what we will get to play with?
This is what T-Mobile USA had to say on the G2:
If you are a BlackBerry user you may have heard about a cool new Twitter app coming soon – called Blaq.
Well, if all goes to plan then it will be tomorrow that the app is launched and I can tell you that it is rather impressive.
We were lucky enough to be one of the few tech sites chosen worldwide to get an early copy to review so if you are going to consider downloading Blaq tomorrow you may want to check back with us in the morning as our full review will be online.
If you have been waiting to the app for sometime then all I can say is “Good things come to those who wait”.
Tomorrow is Blaq Friday!
