Still struggling to come to terms with the poor performance of your iPhone 3G battery while using HSDPA and all the other features of the phone, if you are well you should check out Steve’s Trotto’s review of the USB Fever Portable Power Station. The portable Power Stations allows you to charge your iPhone 3G on the go. With a 2400mAh Li-ion battery this should provide you with plenty of power to get through the day and more. Take a look at the video after the break to see how this device works.
While this may have little implication in the greater context of things, the iPhone Dev Team is close to finally coming up with an iPhone 3G baseband unlock solution which was missing when the iPhone 2.0 jailbreak was released. Since iPhones will still solely be available and activated through AT&T stores in the US and O2 in the UK through iTunes and in store contract signing, this latest news will have very little effect in the sales of AT&T. Nevertheless, this iPhone 3G unlock will surely be appreciated by those who wish to finally switch networks.
HTC is finally going public with the number of G1 phones it expects to sell by the end of the year—600,000 is the figure it is offering up. Sales projections are a tricky game for device manufacturers. It’s an opportunity for companies like Apple and HTC to boast about how well they plan their products to perform, but it’s also a chance to appear surprised later when they outperform their own forecasts.

As expected, Apple chose this weekend to release the latest beta version of its iPhone firmware to developers for testing new features before making it public but it’s what it hasn’t done that’s really noteworthy. Although firmware 2.2 now has the Street View option in Google Maps, it still doesn’t give the iPhone the ability to copy, cut or paste text. The one feature that pretty much every iPhone owner has been clamouring for since the handset hit the market isn’t the only thing not happening.
In what can only be described as one of the coolest netbook hacks to date, one Russian Eee PC 701 owner decided that his netbook would look better in his car’s dashboard than on his lap. So he set about to make it happen. The end result? An Eee PC-based carputer with GPS, Bluetooth, and a wireless keyboard that hangs out in the glove compartment.
Paul over at Modaco had posted a detailed review of the Xperia X1, overall it is a very positive review, to quote Paul “WiFi works great, GPS works great, effectively everything seems to work as described and I can’t honestly off of the top of my head think of any specific disappointments in the software. Yes, it’s standard WinMo, but if you’re comfortable with that (and on this kind of device with a hardware keyboard it works particularly well) then you’ll be satisfied. So there you go, check out his full review over at Modaco.
Vodafone now have the Xperia X1 in stock to order on a personal or a business plan. Looks like we are finally seeing the X1 hitting the network’s shops as well as the online stores now after a few delays, £45.00 a month tariffs and above and you can get it free. Also Clove have it in stock sim free as we mentioned the other day too.
The internet is such an amazing resource tool. You never know what you’re going to discover and this one caught us by surprise. What could easily be mistaken as either a Macbook Nano or iPhone HD which is now being dubbed as iPhone Slate, this is a rendition of what is being rumored to be the next big thing from Apple.
