It’s the first podcast of the new year and it’s a BIGGIE! Measuring in at a massive 1h 48m and featuring four unique perspectives this podcast is the longest we’ve done but there is so much to be covered. Tonight, Gareth and Andy are joined by Matt and James from www.tracyandmatt.co.uk to discuss, at length, the year that was 2009 and what they hope for in 2010.

A lot of rumours are starting to build suggesting that Windows Mobile 7 will be announced at Steve Ballmer’s keynote address at this years Consumer Electronic Show.
Based mainly on the fact that Robbie Bach will also be in attendance and for those that don’t know Robbie Back is President of Entertainment & Devices which covers obviously Windows Mobile.
Now don’t get too excited, Microsoft are well known for announcing products well in advance of their actual release but I do agree that it needs to be announced with a few details sooner rather than later to get some interest in a fast dying product.
Lets hope Microsoft have a product to wow us with a stronger focus on consumers as well as business, no one can argue that Windows Mobile already provides a great business experience but there is now more to phones than that, business people are consumers too and carrying two phones is not an attractive option for anyone.
For Windows Mobile to burst back on the scene it must have a great media player with easy access to content, Zune can fill that gap, the web browser needs to be greatly improved, the whole UI needs a revamp with the words simple the key word, Apple know how to make things work intuitively, Microsoft need to understand that to be successful in this market they need to deliver something special, not just something average.
We have multi-touch, capacitive screens, accelerometers and apps for everything with what we have now, what can Microsoft offer to get people to notice them when Google and Apple are now so far ahead, we shall see.

Google today announced its first in-house mobile handset, the Nexus One. Stacked up with best hardware money can buy and running the latest revision of Android, the Nexus is already the must have device of 2010.

We all know how frustrating it can be when your out and about and have to get online and the expensive mobile broadband contract you have connects at GPRS speeds and that big attachment you need to get your hands on takes three hours to download.
Well all you need is a big saucepan, thats right, pop your MiFi or Dongle into a saucepan (No need to add water or bring to the boil, that would be just silly) and watch your signal strength increase. Don’t believe us, take a look at the video above.

Say hello to the best time tracking app for iPhone – TimeTracker (without space in-between). Many people think that iPhone is just a toy for games but the reality is that it is a rock-solid tool for professional applications too!
Smarthouse, an Australian publication, reports that HTC and Google have been collaborating "for the past 18 months" and have produced "several working models of a touch tablet," including one outfitted with Google’s Chrome OS.
Having collaborated on the Nexus One, HTC and Google partnering on a tablet seems like a promising prospect. But will it "compete head on" with Apple’s tablet as Smarthouse claims? Probably not.
Apple have been rumoured to be releasing their own tablet and with an event supposedly coming up later this month we should not have to wait too long to find out what it is all about, my money is on a large screen tablet running iPhone OS designed specifically for Ebook reading, but we will see.

…the Windows Mobile 7 announcement was an error. Bad HTC Russia! I’m sure there are some out there that have gone an bought the device, and if you read it here then I apologise. With any luck there will be an update however it’s such a long way off I don’t reckon HTC will be too interested in the HD2 to care.

I’m guessing that there is nothing in this world that exists with a screen that does not run Doom. The Palm Pre is no exception, check out this video courtesy of Prethinking showing Doom running on the Pre. Aside from the little keyboard controls I can see no faults with this. Excellent stuff:
Our great friends over at Tracy and Matt have just published a review of the latest Nokia messaging device the E72. This handset is running Symbian still but apart from that it has a great form factor, superb QWERTY front facing keyboard and packs in 3G and WiFi.

One of the most wanted features of Documents to Go for iPhone was the ability to get access to your Gmail attachments, sure we had desktop sync software and Exchange attachments, well from today via an update Docs to Go now supports accessing your Gmail attachments.
Also updated is the name, its now called Documents to Go Premium but if you paid for the original Exchange version it is a free update.
