Micron sees its chips banned in China
China’s Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced on Sunday that it has banned US chip maker Micron Technology from selling its products to Chinese companies working on key infrastructure projects. The CAC said that Micron’s products pose “serious security risks” to China’s critical information infrastructure supply chain.
The ban is the latest escalation in the ongoing trade war between the United States and China. In March, the Trump administration imposed export controls on Chinese chipmaker SMIC, which led to a sharp decline in the company’s stock price. China responded by launching a cybersecurity review of Micron’s products.
