Sanyo VPC-CA100 review

Sanyo VPC-CA100 review If you cast your minds back to September 2010 you will remember that I reviewed the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CS1 compact camcorder and you might also remember that I am not really an expert camcorder, in this area I’m just an average consumer. I do use a camcorder frequently time for family events etc. so that’s the approach I am taking for this review.

So with this review of the latest iteration from Sanyo the Xacti VPC-CA100 camcorder I am more experienced and more knowledgeable (in theory anyway)

So if you are in the market for new camcorder then please do read on to find out what I think of the latest from Sanyo.

Oh yes and I mustn’t forget to mention that if you haven’t done so already I will point you in the direction of Matt’s CA100 unboxing video on the site.

iPad and Lovefilm: Awesome

lovefilm-ipadI have no idea if this has been announced elsewhere, but here is some great news!

For Americans, one of the pleasures of the iPad has been the ability to stream movies via Netflix, in the UK we’ve been poorly served since our equivalent, LoveFilm, has been slow to get their act together. The issue has been that iPhones and iPads don’t run flash, and LoveFilm’s streaming service relies on it to work. So your LoveFilm subscription has been useless on Apple iOS devices.

Well down at the Ideal Home Show this weekend, where I often go hunting for a story (?), I brought up this issue at the large LoveFilm stand. The staff were fairly clueless but put me through to someone senior who told me that as part of their expansion plans (which recently involved streaming on the PS3 etc), they will be iPad and iPhone friendly from mid-April. He also mentioned that the number of movies available to stream is about to increase dramatically thanks to the company being bought by Amazon a few months back.

Samsung Galaxy S2 gets a processor upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100_04

The chaps at gsmarena have posted that the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be released with a 1.2 GHz processor instead of the 1GHz that was announced at the launch event in Barcelona. That is great news for all you Android fans that are waiting for the device to be released. The problem we have is when is it going to be released. Some retailers are stating it will be in May, where as other sites are claiming June. Either way, it is fantastic news that Samsung have made the improvements, however if they don’t get the handset on sale soon it will more than likely be lacking on other specs judging by how soon we see new Android devices released.

Huawei U8800 Ideos X5 review

X5-frontChances are, if you have had a broadband dongle in the past then it may have been made by Huawei. Having built a rock solid foundation with 3G dongles over the years Huawei are sailing, full steam, into the mobile phone world. Much like HTC did, years ago. With a few phones out over the last few years, mainly rebranded by the networks to their own brand, Huawei are looking to make their name known as a phone manufacturer.

Samsung Galaxy Ace review

Samsung Galaxy Ace reviewSamsung have already put out countless Galaxy branded phones, most notably the super popular Galaxy S. Running with the popularity of the Galaxy brand name, the newest edition (also known as the S8530) has just been pushed to shelves. Although it may be newer, the Galaxy Ace technically slots in below the Galaxy S, looking to cater for the fierce mid-range smartphone market. Despite having a middling price tag, the Ace stacks up quite favourably in the specs department – an 800MHz processor underneath a 3.5 inch HVGA touchscreen, 5MP camera and Android 2.2 is already sounding good.

Despite being yet another Android phone, it does look to be a hidden gem in the sea of droids currently available and with it’s reasonable pricing, will it continue the Galaxy trend by selling in droves?
Read on to find out.
