Following news that the original Samsung Wave has sold 1 million handsets worldwide, the chaps from Seoul have seen fit to bless the world with a raft of new Bada-powered devices. The device you see here is the catchy monikered Wave 743, looking part Tocco and part iPhone 4, and it and its new brethren will be running Bada’s latest revision, Bada 1.1. Sadly though it seems that Super AMOLED is no longer riding the Wave, with the 743 sporting a 3.2" TFT screen (touch type undetermined), 5mp camera w/ LED flash, microSD slot and WiFi. The new Wave, like its Galaxy S cousin is also packing Bluetooth 3.0 – the more the merrier.
Mobile Wi-Fi is nothing new as we have had the MiFi from Three for some time now. It is however new to Vodafone and with a beautiful sleek design their mobile WiFi will more than cater for your mobile broadband needs as it allows for multiple devices to be connected at the same time.
Is it better than the Three MiFi? I don’t know yet but we will have a full review online in the next week or two, for now check out Matt’s quick unbox below:
We don’t normally cover games here at tracyandmatt but every so often I come across a game that is so addictive I cant stop playing it.
Although not free (£1.19) LilRacers for the iPhone is fantastic value for money in my opinion and will keep you entertained for hours.
As you will see, the game has a massive selection of championships to enter and each of those containing four tracks. In addition there are four types of road surface to make things a little more realistic.
Check out the video below and if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch I would recommend giving this one a try.
Here’s a look at the swanky new ARCHOS 8 home tablet. The main sell here is the digital photo frame application that also allows for web browsing and accessing web services thanks to the Android operating system.
Running Android 1.6 with some specifically written software, the device provides a little storage for photos and other media on the 4GB flash memory and an SD card slot of expanding that. There is also WiFi, 720p playback, massive codec support, built-in speakers, and a kick stand.
Matt’s had his hand on this neat little device already and has a wee video for you below:
Sony Ericsson has been named the official mobile handset of the UEFA Champions League as part of Sony’s partnership of the European football tournament, which runs until 2012.
PlayStation, Heineken, Sony, UniCredit and MasterCard are the five current official partners of the Champions League for the 2009-2012 football seasons.
The deal for Sony Ericsson to become the official mobile handset of the tournament leverages Sony’s position as an existing partner.
BGR has managed to get hold of some new photos showing off a HTC device that we can only presume will be an Android one. I say this as on the rear of the device it says ‘With HTC Sense”.
The device clearly has a kick stand as well as an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, kickstand, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and, wait for it. a front facing camera.
BGRs source says “It makes the Droid 2 look like a kids toy!”
The LaCinema Mini HD is something new to me, I was unaware of it before asked to review it however like many would be was intrigued by the promise this little black box arrived with.
There are quite a few of these ‘set-top-box’ style media players on the market now so what has the LaCinema got to offer? You’ll have to read on to find out!
You’ve all heard the stories of app programmers getting super-rich off of super-small programs, and now research2guidance.com has shown just how much cash is swimming around the app game. In the first half of 2010, the smartphone application market was valued at rather staggering $2.2 billion, up from $1.7 billion of the previous year, and app downloads themselves rose 0.8 billion to 3.9 billion. Now lets look at that again – the figures represent the first half of 2010, a period that doesn’t include several important factors – most noticeably, no iPhone 4. Plus it just misses the releases of arguably the most successful Android handsets yet with HTC’s Desire and EVO, Sony’s Xperia X10 and Samsung’s Galaxy S family. It’s also just on the cusp of Froyo’s release, so while these are extremely impressive figures, if we take into account the news of Android handsets outselling the still ridiculously successful iPhone 4, the second half of 2010 could see an even more impressive growth. One thing is for sure, there’s an App goldrush and it shows no sign of stopping.
Gareth, Matt and James are joined by Tracy to chat about the Acer Stream, a new Samsung Android tablet, HP releasing a WebOS tablet and a few new Windows Phone 7 devices.
