Samsung I7500 Android phone heading to the UK in Q3

image Samsung have announced their first Android phone, set to debut in the UK in Q3. The I7500 will have a 3.2-inch capacitive OLED touchscreen as seen in the the recent Tocco Ultra Edition.

The Android handset will have the latest Cupcake update, 5MP camera with flash, 3.5mm headset jack and 8GB of internal memory which should be plenty for all the new Android applications that are starting to come through.

O2 has apparently picked up this handset in Germany, so we assume it will follow onto the UK soon after. That will mean an Android handset on all the major UK networks except Orange and Three.

A look at the Pandora

PandaFront

Here is a device that might just get a few folks talking. This is the Pandora, roughly the same size as the Nintendo DS and, as you can see, looks like the Nintendo DS lite. Pandora is an open end platform that will specialise in homebrew applications and games, similar to the GP2X. The Pandora developers have already shown working emulators for PlayStation, Amiga, Super NES, Atari Jaguar and Sega Mega Drive software.

Samsung Omnia Pro

omnia-pro

This one lies deep in the bowels of Rumorsville for the time being but we can’t say we’d hate for it to become a reality. According to Samsung – HD blog, Sammy will have a new addition to its Omnia lineup come July. Billed as the Omnia Pro — which, by the way, definitely detracts from the believability-factor of this rumor — the new handset will feature a full touchscreen sitting atop a QWERTY slider a la HTC’s Touch Pro and Pro2. Perhaps Sammy figured if it was going to bite the form factor it might as well bite the name, too? Reported specs for the Omnia Pro include a 3.5-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen display, Windows Mobile 6.1 (which will be upgradable to 6.5 upon release) and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, a flash and video recording capabilities. So if you’ve been eying the OmniaHD but aren’t a fan of S60 5h Edition or touchscreen-only handsets, keep your fingers crossed that this rumor ends up panning out. The image above, by the way, is a mock up created by the source.

Android HTC Magic in Spain

htc-magic-spain

Eight days ahead of its expected launch in the UK, Vodafone’s HTC Magic page has suddenly gone live in Spain and ordering of the latest android handset has commenced. The Spanish Magic will come with a slightly higher price tag than its UK counterpart, ranging from 199€ ($261USD) with a 21€ ($28USD) monthly plan down to 19€ ($25) with a 62€ ($81) monthly plan. Being able to flaunt the latest and greatest Android handset earlier than anyone else comes with a cost, no?

LG Arena (KM900) unboxing video

You may have seen the adverts for the LG Arena on TV where the phone is demonstrated as a completely touch-screen device. Fans of the HTC Touch may hove noticed some similarities between the user interface on the Arena and the Touch Cube on the HTC Touch.

The LG Arena has an extremely sensitive screen thanks to the capacitive technology used. It’s similar in response to the iPhone but has higher-res WVGA (480×800) screen that will help you make the most of your videos as the Arena will even playback DivX/Xvid Video.

Play your music more powerfully with Dolby Mobile for Music to experience a superior sound quality. Plus, take advantage of the 3.5mm jack, for connecting high quality headphones. Finally, the LG Arena allows you play your music in multi-formats meaning all of your music – MP3, AAC, AAC+, RA and WMA).

We’ll be reviewing the LG Arena over the next few weeks but for now take a look at our unboxing video.
