Google glasses spotted

Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin Sports the New Google Glasses at Dinner in the Dark, a Benefit for the Foundation Fighting Blindness -- San Francisco, CAHere’s something you don’t see everyday: one of the co-founders of one of the largest and most influential corporations on the planet out and about using a prototype of one of his companies "pet projects." Apparently, Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google is one of the "beta-testers" of their coolest new project, "Project Glass", aka Google Goggles. Here’s a quote from the Engadget article with some of the details:

Quote:

It would appear company co-founder Sergey Brin already knows, as he was spotted by tech pundits Robert Scoble and Thomas Hawk rocking a prototype at a Dining in the Dark charity event for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Scoble has already posted a couple of pictures with Brin on Google+, mentioning more photos would be forthcoming from Hawk after the event concluded and that he’d heard other people, including Google exec Vic Gundotra, have the devices already. For now he mentions the glasses appeared to be "self contained" and that he could see a blueish light flashing on Brin’s eyes.

That’s pretty cool! If he can already start testing them in real-world situations, then they may not be too far off from an actual production model after-all. We will keep you apprised of this interesting and evolving tech.

ZTE Tania review

zte-tania ZTE have been known for giving the cheaper basic versions of Android so far in their mobile careers, but now they have dabbed their hands in the Windows Phone market. And sticking to typical ZTE style, this handset is the cheapest Windows Phone 7 you can buy on the market today. However, the device still packs a 1Ghz processor, a 5mp camera and a 4.3" screen so the question is is this phone a massive bargain or are there other flaws that specifications can’t tell us?

Sony Xperia S review

Sony Xperia S reviewSince Sony announced going solo again in the competitive mobile market, they have launched an ‘NXT’ series of smartphones, headed by the Sony Xperia S. This new flagship device for Sony bears typical Sony features, with a unique design, a crisp HD display, and a resolution-bumping 12MP camera. While the specification may not be at the very cutting edge, Sony have a knack for packaging their products to combine design and specification to create a user experience worthy of being called a flagship; just look at the popularity of last years critically acclaimed Xperia Arc. Despite being behind the curve on specs, the overall package won many hearts and this is what Sony are looking for with the Xperia S. While that Arc bore the name of Sony Ericsson, this pure Sony smartphone marks the beginning of a device which unifies their other market offerings, like the PlayStation brand.

So, on their return to fame, have Sony managed to fashion a phone worthy of a slot in your pocket? Read on for the verdict.

Mini Keyboard for BlackBerry PlayBook – Hands-On Video

mini-keyboard-12

I have had my eye on this piece of kit for a while now. The first batch of Mini Keyboards for the PlayBook arrived in the UK in the last day or so and I managed to secure one for testing.

The kit comes as two parts, as you will see. It consists of a nice leather case and a separate Bluetooth keyboard that slots into that there case. Once the PlayBook in the case and with the desk stand flippy out thing erected you pretty much have a small portable mini computer.

I can certainly see the benefits to using a product like this but I shall reserve my final judgment until I have had a good few days with it.

If you use the BlackBerry PlayBook you want to watch the following video.

CoPilot Live now on sale for iOS and Android

copilotlive-logo

I do like a bargain and ALK are offering an Easter special: discounts on CoPilot Live.

With possible gridlock at the airports, many people will be hitting the roads this Easter weekend, particularly now that the risk of a fuel tanker strike is over (for now at least!). Although UK destinations are likely to be popular, many will be heading across to the continent to escape the sudden cold snap and to find some spring sunshine.

So what else could go wrong? Traffic chaos? Getting lost? Arguments over which way to go? How about huge roaming costs from downloading maps to your phone when abroad?

At CoPilot Live, they want to help you avoid travel problems this Easter. So they are offering some great discounts on the European map versions of our CoPilot Live Premium smartphone sat nav apps – for this weekend only.

USA to get the HTC EVO 4G LTE

htc_evo_4g_lte_front_0

Wow, what a name! The HTC EVO 4G LTE has tonight been announced in Americaland and will be available exclusively with Sprint. Here in the UK we are still way behind when it comes to LTE so I’m a little jealous of the speeds this new Android device will offer.

The new EVO is not too dissimilar to the HTC One X we now have here in the UK. Both have the same size screen and 8mp cameras but there is one big difference and that is storage.

The EVO 4G LTE packs 16gb of internal storage (One X has 32) however it also sports MicroSD support, a feature that many Smartphone users hate to be without. Why this feature is on one new flagship handset and not another baffles me but that’s just the way it is.

If you fancy checking out the full specs of the EVO 4G LTE you can do so below:

Launched last year, the Hotels.com mobile app has since received several million downloads. The app is also currently available for iPhone and Android devices, as well as a custom built version for the iPad which was added to the portfolio in September 2011.

The Timeshare Software is available for owner to be able to access their details and update information, payments and booking from one single portal.

The Hotels.com mobile app allows users to search and book almost 149,000 hotels around the world, either by entering the city they wish to stay or by finding hotels in their immediate location. The mobile app provides users with access to more than 20,000 exclusive last minute deals, hotel information and more than 6.5 million customer reviews (left by customers who have actually stayed in that hotel) on the go.

Christelle Chan for Hotels.com commented: “Since we first launched the Hotels.com mobile app last year, we’ve seen an increasing demand from people looking for hotels on the go, as 70% of all searches are made on the day they intend to stay.”

“If the latest stats are anything to go by, Windows Phone popularity is set to increase over the next few years and we have expanded our mobile portfolio to meet this demand. We’ve already seen great success through the App Store and Android Market, and are excited to make the app available to Windows Phone users too.”

HTC One S Unboxing Video

htc-one-s_01

The second ‘One Series’ device we have managed to get our hands on is the HTC One S. Slightly smaller than the One X, this beast sports a 4.3 inch screen which may well suit more people than its big brother. Powered by a nippy 1.5 Ghz dual core processor, the One S still packs a mean punch. Complete with a 8MP camera and full HD video capabilities, its 16GB of internal storage are boosted with the 25GB of free DropBox cloud storage you get with it.

We will of course have a full review in the next week or two so in the meantime you can see the unboxing below. Feel free to fire us any questions you may have that you would like us to cover.
