Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro appear

samsung-wave-2-pro

Almost 23 minutes after the Samsun Wave arrive on UK shores the Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro are announced. These Bada powered devices are known as the S5250 Wave 2 and S5330 Wave 2 Pro, both devices are more or less identical save for the fact that the Pro model has a sliding QWERTY keypad. This means that everything else, be it the 3.2? WQVGA touchscreen display, 3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, 80MB of internal memory, quad-band EDGE (no UMTS/HSDPA) and TouchWiz 3.0 UI is the same across the two devices. Both the Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro will be available in South East Asia and Russia this August.

Collapsible phones, the future?

This little video might be quite significant to the future of mobile devices. Be it games, telecommunications or navigation the screen is always the biggest aspect of the device. Imagine is it could be increased to aid a certain task. Well Sony is currently demoing a rather fancy new technology, a bendable OLED display. Sure it looks a little rough around the edges and the idea has been about for ages but the potential is immense when you think about it. The future Jack, the Future!

iPhone 4 gets UK pricing

product-hero-iphone4 Today’s the day you can start pre-ordering Apple’s iPhone 4 with the promise that you’ll have the handset delivered to you on the 24th June.

You can order the iPhone 4 in either Black or White and either 16 or 32GB models. Apple have just announced SIM-free direct pricing as follows:

iPhone 4 16GB for £499 and 32GB for £599.

Somewhat more expensive than the quoted $299 in the USA.

We’re still waiting on carrier pricing but I expect that will soon follow.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro review

VivazPro-main The Vivaz Pro is the second of four phones Sony Ericsson announced back in February at MWC. It is very similar to the Vivaz spec-wise, although with a few notable differences such as the sliding 4-row keyboard. Despite this addition, there is a minimal increase in size, just 2mm thicker, which is no mean feat. It may have a ‘downgrade’ in the camera megapixel count, but it still keeps the 720p video recording of the original Vivaz.

The camera and keyboard makes this phone an ideal contender for messaging and media types, but is the Vivaz Pro good enough to compete with smartphones from like the likes of Nokia and Sony Ericsson themselves?

iPhone 4 pre-order day

iphone-4 Today’s the day that many have been waiting for – iPhone 4 pre-order day. Since it was officially announced last week iPhone 4 has scarcely been out of the news with all of the networks making some kind of announcement or another relating to pre-order tariffs and contracts.

As at the time of writing there’s still no news on the SIM-free prices and none of the networks have confirmed PAYG pricing either but I suspect that we’ll start to see some UK pricing over the next few hours.

You can find out more from each of the networks:
