HTC Touch Diamond T-Mobile fix

If, like me, you are using a new HTC Touch Diamond on the T-Mobile networks you may have noticed that when you see the connection wizard, it only gives you the option of Virgin and not T-Mobile.

This unfortunately means that you have to configure the connection settings (For your data connection etc.) manually. While this is do-able it’s a bit of a pain in the bum and takes a little while to do – it’s also perhaps a little beyond the new or novice Windows Mobile user and furthermore relies upon you knowing what the settings are!

Fortunately Paul from MoDaCo has come up with a solution in the form of a simple CAB file. All you have to do is copy the file to your Diamond and run the CAB file. After a reboot you’ll have a full list of UK networks including T-Mobile! You can find full details HERE.

    The results of the poll

We have been running a poll for a few weeks now just to find out a bit more about our readers so we can hopefully provide the content that you want to read about. Well we are pleased with the poll results as it fits in with the direction we want to be heading in and hopefully one that is quite unique. This site loves Windows Mobile and the iPhone and that is unusual, so we will continue to report news and reviews for both platforms along with detailed reviews of devices and software. We will also be covering Symbian news too but more in how it compares to Windows Mobile and iPhone devices.

    Poll Results

This next 12 months will see some amazing new devices coming through along with some great software to review and hopefully we will be able to provide the information you want to know about. Please subscribe to our feed so you don’t miss anything new or bookmark our site and once again thank you for your support, the readership is growing very quickly.

HTC Diamond new rom big improvements

image Since the release of the HTC Diamond officially in the UK, its been great to read that HTC seem to have addressed a lot of the issues with the first wave of unofficial grey imports and preview devices that were being reviewed a few weeks back. Now the released devices are carrying a rom that is more recent than the review devices we have read about and it appears that this makes a huge difference to the performance.

iCall for the iPhone, VoIP coming soon officially

image One of the most anticipated applications for the iPhone for me is a Vo-IP application which would allow me to make calls using WiFi. Well the good news is iCall for the iPhone is coming and it will be available officially from the iTunes App Store. It is also rumoured to become available through usave broadband and phone deals. Not only will you be able to make calls over WiFi but also seamlessly transfer a mobile call over to VoiP which could save you a lot of minutes each month. It’s already working and you can check out the video after the break to see it in action and check out their FAQ’s

    HTC Touch Diamond UK retail

Just like some of my other Windows Mobile community friends I am now the proud owner of a new UK spec. HTC Touch Diamond, complete with the latest ROM build.

I’ve only just started to use this full retail version and while it is essentially the saem device with the same hardware as the review unit we looked at last week, this version with it’s ater ROM build is far superior!

Many of the little niggles and bugbears with the software that I mentioned in the first parts of my HTC Touch Diamond review have been addressed. The Touch-Flo 3D interface is a whole lot smoother and much more respsonsive which makes using the Diamond a much more pleasurable experience.

Over the next few days, new baby permitting, I’ll be talking about the Diamond in a little more detail.

As always, please feel free to ask questions and I’ll do my best to answer.
