The Sony Ericsson Cedar is another phone from their Green Heart range, meaning they have used recycled plastics for the phone and other various recycled materials for the packaging, all very green.
The cedar is very much a feature phone and its price and specs reflect this. It does support 3G so at least browsing will be quick, although no Wi-Fi.
It would however appear to be full of handy little features such as the home screen shortcuts to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
You can see the unboxing video after the break as well as the Cedars full specs.
We will have a full review online in the near future.
In the below video I delve a little deeper into BlackBerry 6 on the Bold 9780 and show you a few of its features which we have not seen before on a non touch screen BlackBerry here in the UK.
The full review of the 9780 will be online in the next week so if you are considering it as an upgrade or you just want to switch over to BlackBerry you may want to read what I think about it?
Feel free to ask any questions over in our forum and I will endeavor to answer within the review.
Last week James treated us to a quick unboxing video of the new HTC Desire Z and then passed it over to my for review.
So I thought I would start off with a little demo video of just a few of the key features of the HTC Desire Z to give you a flavour of what to expect before I get my review live here on the site. It’s not the final retail version of the box etc. but the handset and software is very unlikely to change before it goes on sale here in the UK.
As always, if you want to ask me any questions you can do so via the forum or if you want to make sure that I cover something in the review that you are specifically interested then let me know!
The HTC HD7 is the biggest of all the UK Windows Phone 7 devices and although its specs are pretty on par with all the others its 4.3 inch screen will be its selling pint so if you are into media then this may well be the Windows Phone for you.
It may well be too big for some though. The HTC HD2 and HTC Desire HD that we reviewed were also monster phones and if truth be told a little too large for me.
Lets see how Matt’s giant hands cope with it in the unboxing video below.
Here I have another unboxing for you and this time it is of another Nokia X3 but this one is aptly named the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type, I say aptly simply because it has both a touch screen interface as well as an alphanumerical keypad go boot so you get the best of both worlds with this device.
Nokia do seem to like their reiteration of names for their handsets because it was only in february this year that they released their first X3 which was an XpressMusic phone, now what’s special about this device is that it is Nokia’s first ever Touch and Type phone with an alphanumerical keypad as opposed to the QWERTY on such devices as the new C6, but what is also very interesting about the X3-02 is the fact it’s Nokia’s first touch screen phone to have Symbian Series 40 which suggests that they strongly believe that this device will do well in the market.
The handset has a relatively small touch screen display at 2.4" and it’s also resistive so we shall have to see if it is good enough to waistband the pressure from other devices in the market at the moment.
As usual the full review will be online in the next couple of weeks hut for now take a look at the below unboxing video and enjoy.
The Archos 101 is a much anticipated Android tablet. Whilst Samsung occupy the high end of the market with the £500 Galaxy Tab and an endless slew of cheap and nasty tablets invade from every other company looking to make a buck Archos focuses on a mid-range that is going to appeal to the majority.
The 101 is named as such due to it’s huge WXVGA 10.1″ LCD screen. the device boast quite an eye catching spec list including a front facing webcam, Android 2.2 Froyo (not implemented yet), 1ghz processor, 3D openGL, 8 or 16gb on-board storage, video and audio codecs for pretty much everything and a handy kickstand.
Have a look at the extended unboxing below and keep your eye peeled for further video demos in the future. I shall be leaving the review until 2.2 Froyo arrives in the next couple of weeks.
I was lucky enough to be given the new BlackBerry Bold by RIM today for review. The new 9780’s hardware is not that different to its predecessor, the 9700, but we do get a few improvements.
First off is the camera, now a 5 megapixel. Next we get a memory upgrade to 512mb. And best off all the Bold 9780 comes with BlackBerry 6. This is the first non touch screen BlackBerry to launch here in the UK with the new OS.
What I can say is that although the 9780 is not revolutionary, it is a breath of fresh air and I am so looking forward to using it for the next week or two.
Check out the unboxing video below and keep your eyes peeled for a further demo video over the next few days. Oh, and not forgetting the full review which will be with us soon.
Yesterday another parcel arrived here in the office and to my excitement it was another Windows Phone 7 handset for us to review. This time we have the LG Optimus 7 (aka LG E900), LG’s first WP7 handset.
The Optimus 7 is currently exclusive to Vodafone here in the UK which may limit the uptake somewhat but it’s likely that it will end up as a SIM-free handset in the coming months.
The LG is one of the larger WP7 handsets sporting a 3.8″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen. As with all the other WP7 handsets out there at the moment there’s no user upgradable memory, no memory card slot so you are limited to the 16GB of internal storage which isn’t too bad.
I’m working my way though the review at the moment and have to say that, despite my earlier reservations about WP7, I’m really starting to like the platform.
For now you can check out the unbox and quick demo below and I’ll be back soon with more!
First we had the Desire. Then came the Desire HD. And finally we get the Desire Z with a completely different form factor to its two brothers. The HTC Desire Z comes sporting a four row sliding QWERTY keyboard which frankly is quite gorgeous.
Combined with Android 2.2, Sense UI and HD video recording the Desire Z should do quite nicely for those people that prefer a hardware keyboard rather than just relying on the touch screen for typing.
See the unboxing video below and watch out for our demo video in the next few days.
If you’ve been paying close attention you’ll know that James has already had his hands on the HTC Desire HD for about a week and recorded an unboxing video of the plain-white boxed PR version from HTC.
However, yesterday I got my hands on the full retail version of the HTC Desire HD from our friends over at Devicewire.com and thought I would record my own unboxing video of the retail package and have a quick look at the hardware.
Over the next week James and I are going to finish up our full review of the Desire HD and we’ll have that online for you shortly. There will be some more demo videos for you too. In the mean time if you would like to ask us any questions please do so via the forum and we’ll do our best to either answer directly or via the review.
