Official videos – HTC Surround & HTC 7 Pro

HTC7SurroundHTC7Pro

The HTC Surround and 7 Pro are both devices that we in the UK are not likely to see this year. HTC have posted short videos of both that you can see below.

The HTC 7 Pro is the device that will be here next year at some point and will be open to all UK carriers, so HTC told me. Not sure about the Surround though. I think we may miss out on that one. Shame as it looks a right bobby dazzler!

LG Optimus 7 – hands on video

LG Optimus

LGs only Windows Phone 7 option for the UK is the Optimus 7. Size wise it is in the same band as the HTC 7 Trophy with a 3.8 inch screen. I haven’t been too excited with LG phones over the past few years but they have given this one some thought and have a few very nice and unique features that the other Windows phone 7 devices do not have.

In the video below you will see how I didn’t understand one or two features so I went and grabbed an LG expert and he gave me a demo of the good bits.

HTC 7 Trophy – hands on video

HTC 7 Trophy

The third HTC Windows Phone 7 device I had time with at the launch event was the HTC 7 Trophy which will be available on the Vodafone network.

With a 3.8 inch screen this one sits in the middle in terms of size compared to the HD7 and the HTC 7 Mozart. Like the rest it also comes with 8GB or internal storage and records video in 720P HD. Vodafone have installed a few 360 features but nothing that takes away the standard WP7 UI experience, thank god.

See the video after the break and also a reminder of the Trophy’s specs.

Dell Venue Pro – hands on video

dell_venue_pro

The dell Venue Pro is not a device that we are due to have here in the UK for a while. That’s a shame as I kind of liked it. I was talking with a Dell product manager at the launch event who said we would get it at some point but at present it is exclusive to a US carrier.

As you will see in the video below the Venue Pro is a monster of a phone. I thought my BlackBerry Torch was big but the Dell dwarfs it! With a 4.1 inch screen and a sliding full QWERTY keyboard could the Venue Pro tempt some BlackBerry users?

See my hands on video below and also me comparing it with my BlackBerry Torch.

Samsung Omnia 7 – Hands on video

samsung-omnia-7

Samsungs UK offering to WP7 is the Omnia 7. With a 4 inch Super AMOLED screen it has the best display seen today by far. It is however more square looking and feeling than the others but will sell well I suspect.

Like the others it records video in 720P HD but only has a 5MP camera. I say only but its not a bad thing. Samsung produce great cameras and 5MP is more than most people need.

HTC 7 Mozart – Hands on video

htc-7-mozart_thumb

Next up in our Windows Phone 7 video collection is the HTC 7 Mozart.

The Mozart is the smallest of the phones seen today but having a 3.7 inch screen makes it far from small. Combined with a 8mp camera, xenon flash and 720P HD video recording the device is exclusive to Orange here in the UK and there will be some aggressive marketing done to promote it.

You can see the video and a reminder of its specs after the break.

HTC HD7 – hands on video

HTC HD7

Well, yesterday was a busy one at the Windows Phone 7 launch event. Over the next day we will bring you hands on videos with all the UK devices. Lets start with the big one, the HTC HD2. At 4.3 inches it is the largest of the new WP7 family and a real monster. As you will see in the video the OS has nothing unique compared to the other HTC WP7 handsets  but they do have something that the other manufactures do not have, and that is an HTC hub.

Video and specs after the break and due to the reflection no taking the mickey out of my shiny head!

X-Plane 9 for iPad/iPhone – Video

xplane

It’s Sunday once again and that means it is time for an app video demo. This week I look at X-Plane 9 which is available for the iPad and iPhone.

At £5.99 it is not cheap but it certainly is good value for money. X-Plane 9 is no ordinary flight simulator and with the added bonus of pinch to zoom on iOS you will see that you get some beautiful ways to view the plane in flight.

Enjoy the video below and please feel free to let us know if there is anything in particular you would like us to demo. I think we have phones on all platforms so tell us what you want.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 Retail Unboxing Video

BlackBerry-9800-1

You more than likely saw our BlackBerry Torch unboxing video. It was however a review device and came in its own special box. We had a few people ask us what the retail box contained and up until now we couldn’t be sure.

So today when my own BlackBerry Torch arrived I thought I would video it to show you what you get and what you don’t.

Sadly a case is missing from the box which I was rather surprised about. You get one with the Bold and I would have thought that the Torch needs even more protection but RIM must want us to buy our own.

Orange San Francisco Unboxing Video

orange-san-francisco-front-480

I thought that the Orange Samsung Galaxy Apollo was a bargain at £150 but the new San Francisco looks to be a better device and at only £99 it is most likely bargain of the year.

Running Android 2.1 and with a 3.5 inch capacitive screen the San Francisco is going to give the general public a taste of the Android OS without breaking the bank. Sure, its specs are not on par with the latest top of the range Android devices from HTC and Samsung but you must remember that the San Francisco is a quarter of the price and taking that into consideration the specs aren’t that bad.

Check out the unboxing video below and watch out for the full review coming soon. Or if you cant wait, just pop down to your local Orange shop and snap one up.
