Fringe have put out their update Android client that, front facing camera permitting, manages to do video calling. Wonder just how long the networks will tolerate this but grab it while you can from the Android Market if you have an appropriate camera.
Acer has announced the Stream, an Android 2.1 smartphone with a new 3D user interface. The interface provides information on the lock screen so that you don’t have to unlock the device, much like we have saw years ago on the Palm Treo Pro (and were pretty impressed by). Acer says the Stream is a high-end multimedia smartphone that’s optimized for watching movies and browsing the web. It comes equipped with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, HSDPA 7.2Mbps 3G connectivity, 512MB of RAM, a 8GB microSD card, and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Certainly something to keep an eye out for since Acer’s price tag is usually £100 less than the competing HTC or Samsung device. Check the video and press release after the break:
JKKmobile.com has had some hands on time with the Dell Streak. At 24mins there is a lot of coverage from what we had learned over the last few days. The build quality seems high, which isn’t really a surprise as Dell usually has a good record for this. There’s plenty of bits and bobs on the device to play with whilst not being particularly oversized. Compared to the Archos 5, which has the same sized screen it’s pretty big. Android looks beautifully smooth here and the interface is a little different to the typical we have seen and seems nice. Check the video after the break.
The four Addicts as back chat chitting about the latest news in the UK mobile phone scene. Android 2.2 hits big on Gareth’s phone, Andy voices his regret at not being able to play with it yet. Matt’s iPad is hot property in more ways than one and James gets excited by Samsung.

Here is some double bubble for you BlackBerry fans out there. theberrryfix.com have posted a great video of the BlackBerry 9800 slider running OS 6.
As I have said before this new BlackBerry slider seems to be nicer each time we see it and now we can definitely see no clicking of the screen (like the Storm) things are looking even better for the device.
OS 6 appears to run smoothly on the 9800. The screen looks to be extremely sensitive and the OS reacts immediately to screen taps. A good sign all round.

It was a week or so ago that we published the review of Twittelator for iPad. If you read the review you may have noticed I said I would be doing a quick demo video. Well I did but today Matt reminded me that we forgot to publish it. So here it is!
Although the review was pretty in depth the video will give you the real user experience.
If you are considering parting with your cash and getting Twittelator for iPad then watching the video is a must. Enjoy.
No it is not that little geezer from The Lord of the Rings!
If you are not aware, Google previewed the latest version of Android yesterday at their I/O event in the States.
Froyo certainly has some significant improvements over Éclair and also some nice new features.
I watched some of the live feed yesterday and what I saw was rather impressive. Google have once again been working their socks off to make the necessary improvements to the Android platform.
It just keeps getting better and better.
Rather than me bore you with the details, as I am really not an Android expert, please have a look at the official video after the break.
Google have put out a video showing off the attractive features of Android 2.2. Covering speed, browser, market and API updates, there is much to get excited about. The Push notification is quite excited and Apps on SD card is oh-so welcome. The oft rumours wifi hotspot is confirmed making this exciting feature of the Evo 4G common place amongst those device that will receive the 2.2 update, eventually. Auto updating will be a pleasure. Overall it’s a nice update with plenty of added extras. Check out the video after the break:
As we mentioned in the last podcast the Eken M001 will be arriving soon at a rather attractive $100 price tag. It has be bigger brother however. Whereas the M001 features 7 inches of LCD viewing space, the M003 is an 8-inch device that also runs Android and pretty much functions like a tablet with WiFi-connectivity. At $240 a piece it’s cheaper than the Apple iPad albeit with a much lower built-in storage, which is readily addressed using SD cards of up to 32GB. For more information about the EKEN M003, click the link below or watch the video after the break. Video after the break:
